Re: THAT FRIDAY FEELING!

Ah yes, I see the 3rd colour now, I thought it was a mount. I might get some and try something similar.

Re: THAT FRIDAY FEELING!

I very much like your two tone A219 frames you posted back in April, Fruitini. Simple but very effective finishing.

Re: THAT FRIDAY FEELING!

It's not Friday now but it was when I finished this batch of frames. All made from R&H mouldings and hand finished by myself. This project has kept me busy over the last few weeks so I'm very much looking forward to making some smaller frames now for a change.

Re: Framing for critique

Hello. I haven't been on the forum for a week or two and have missed the most recent replies, thanks for all the feedback. I don't do a lot of picture framing as such, I mostly make and hand finish frames. But I am open to the public and do pick up the occasional walk in framing job. With this in mi...

Re: Framing for critique

Thanks again everyone for the input. I love the idea of the painted bevel, colour matching is the way to go! Dermot, I like the blue thing going on here, I'm very tempted to to open it back up again and try to add the colour matched bevel Fruitini mentioned. My workshop is like a goth's boudoir at m...

Re: Framing for critique

Thanks for the input Justin. They all sound good but I like the idea of the darker or lighter blue second mount the best. I'll bear it in mind for the next one.

Framing for critique

Hello all. I don't do a lot of regular picture framing so I'm more than happy to get help and advice the pieces I do frame. I framed this print for myself so it was to my own preferences. I wanted a box frame feel to it so I added strips of the same colour mountboard of 15mm around the inside sides ...

Re: Some frames I've made this year.

Hello Dermot. I'm just lucky there's enough people who want to buy the frames I want to make. It wouldn't be possible with the internet though, I doubt there's too many people nearby that would want to buy the frames I make. The ripple on this frame was made on my router, it works quite well for thi...

Re: Some frames I've made this year.

Hello Justin. Thanks for the advice, I plan on making some marketing materials next year and approaching good quality galleries. The vast majority of my work comes from Instagram, I make the frames I want to make, post them online and people buy them or commission similar frames to their own sizes. ...

Re: Some frames I've made this year.

Hello all. Many thanks for all the comments, they're most appreciated. Dermot. Yes, I buy in the ripple pieces, although I'd love to be able to make more of my own. I also use a modified R&H A644 and my own very basic ripple I make on my router table. I use a red ochre acrylic as a primer then a...

Some frames I've made this year.

Hello all. As we head towards the end of the year I thought I'd share some of my favorite frames, perhaps some of them will be of interest to one or two of you. I've been in my workshop now for about a year and a half, I deal almost exclusively with online customers, mostly via Instagram. I do keep ...

Shadow mount question

Hello all. A quick question, any help most appreciated. If I'm shadow mounting a small print, what is the best way to secure 3mm foam board to my mount board? I've used ATG double sided tape before but I'm not sure how secure it is. After that I used thread put stitches in each corner, as well as th...

Re: Making your own Mouldings

Another thing, I'd love to make my own ripple pieces too. Does anyone here make ripple pieces using regular machinery? I can make basic some fairly basic stuff on my router table but that's about it.
Here's a frame I made based on some R&H A112.

Very interesting thread, been thinking about making my own mouldings for a while. I have the space for some more machinery so I might start thinking about it a bit more seriously.

Hello.

Very nice framing indeed!

Where do framers go for framing inspiration and new ideas? Are there any particular websites or Instagram pages I should be looking at?

Re: Sticky Rebate Supports on my Morso F

Thanks for the help, glad I didn't put grease in there. My supports have a fair bit of side to side motion so perhaps they're a bit worn, it's a fairly old machine.

Sticky Rebate Supports on my Morso F

Hello all. Looking for a bit of advice about the rebate supports on my Morso. As I move the blades forward whilst cutting moulding, the left hand mitre support tends to catch on the underside of the moulding and and everything locks up. Is there meant to be grease in the track where the support slid...

Thanks for all the comments, I think I'll add a spacer between the poster and glass just to be on the safe side.

Glass on artwork?

Hello.

I've been asked to frame a large inexpensive poster. The customer wants a simple narrow frame without a mount. So the question is, is it ever ok to have the glass positioned directly against the artwork or should there always be a gap?

Thanks in advance.
