Safe to say lessons learnt re hollow back mouldings.
Good news is, the mentioned champagne gold acrylic paint from amazon finished well over the sealed polyfilla and the (respectfully) fussy customer was none the wiser.

Re: Chipped rose golf moulding to fill
Thanks to each of you for your help I have filled and primed the gaps (polyfilla) now awaiting a couple of different gold paints from lion and amazon to experiment with on an off cut. Taking the positives...another lesson learned on my framing journey I'll share the outcome, unless it completely fai...

Chipped rose golf moulding to fill
Evening all, Very much in need of your help I'm working with a LJ foil moulding (Hampshire II) which is unfortunately chipping at the cut I think due to the nature of the finish and the profile of the back of the moulding(?). What would be the recommended product and approach to fill these? I am thi...

Re: Framing (and hanging) a big ol' mirror
Thanks all for your advice @prospero, do you have any specific recommendations on which french cleats? I've seen the below from Lion though not clear what the weight rating is. Also what do you mean when you refer to cutting a bevel? Looks to me like no cutting should be involved. https://www.lionpi...

Framing (and hanging) a big ol' mirror
Evening framers, I'm working on a large mirror project for a wall in my home. I've measured up and the total size will need to be around 1.2 x 1.6m, so for the sake of argument let's assume this is the glass size. I would appreciate advice on framing a 3mm piece of silvered glass of this size, I'm t...

Thanks all
Placing the frame on a surface and taking the photo from above is an interesting idea, hadn't thought of that.
Need to dig out my old copy of Photoshop 7 it seems haha!

Taking photographs of completed frames
Hi all, Perhaps I'm being particular but I am always unsatisfied with the outcome when taking photographs of completed frames. The perspective tends to look odd and gives an unusual sense of size and generally doesn't do the finished article full justice. I presume alot of this is down to the square...

Re: Removing deep creases from large poster
Thanks all for posting so promptly - I will take your advice away with me and experiment. Am i right to assume self-adhesive board is readily available from suppliers e.g.LJ, Lion? I notice unsurprisingly that a press of some kind has featured. When/if to obtain a press or go 'partner' with a 3rd pa...

Removing deep creases from large poster
Fellow FF members, Your assistance please I need to remove creases from folded A1 posters for a customer - the paper itself is a matt finish and rather heavy, probably around the 200gsm range. I do not have a hot or cold press (yet). I have watched a video which uses a tacking iron just after moiste...

Wanted: Fletcher Multi Point tool and darts
Hi Framers,
I'm looking to get hold of a second hand multi point tool by fletcher (the yellow one I believe) and darts. This will primarily be used to stack mouldings.
May be too much of an ask but no harm in trying.
Thanks
David

Re: Tiny workspaces
I'm in the process of 'installing' my workspace which was a single-width garage built in the late 60s so not the widest with what the cars were sized back then. It measures approx 230x480cm. I have pages and pages of notebook scribbles designing the optimum layout bearing in mind a large enough work...

Re: what size are your best selling sizes for ready made frames?
good question! Abi has pointed out a powerful source of secondary market data. While I cant speak from experience i.e. offering ready made frames I would take a similar approach to researching further given consumer buying habits and reliance on search engines. google offer a similar tool: https://t...

I'd also learned just that re the cutting wheel by my nearest equipment supplier, so that's a huge relief!
Do you have the part number/id/name for it?

Re: Keencut System 4000 - Free!!
Going slightly off-topic but would you mind sharing any advise as to maintenance/operation? I am in the process of setting one I picked as part of a job-lot sale from a framer who has now retired. Did you wall mount it or use the legs? I recently spoke to Keencut UK who stated that they are unable t...
