Mounting Japanese Paper?

I have some wood engravings printed on very fine Japanese paper to mount and frame. As the paper is so fine, I'm thinking of placing them over a thicker acid free sheet of white paper, to both support and illuminate the prints. How should I go about attaching such delicate prints to a window mount? ...

Re: Shipping Large Oil Painting from UK to USA?

The client may be willing to pay to ship it stretched (not rolled up), with would be preferable for the painting. I'd need to build a wooden crate. Who'd be willing to ship it? Would it be priced by weight or size? And how long does it take? Would it actually be the safer option?

Shipping Large Oil Painting from UK to USA?

Has anyone ever shipped a large oil on canvas painting from the UK to the US? I need to ship a 6' width painting and my plan is to ship it rolled in a tube. But the client may be willing to pay to ship it stretched, with would be preferable. What would my options be?

Maped Ruler Runners Perishing - How To Replace?

The rubber runners on the back of my 120cm Maped cutting ruler have started perishing and leaving black marks on the board when cutting (I think my wife has cleaned it with something?). Is it possible to replace them? If so what with?

Thanks

Float Mounting Large Heavy Drawing?

I'm float mounting a large drawing on very heavy watercolour paper. What should I use to attach the paper to the backing board?

Incidentally, please could I have advice on the size of gap between moulding and drawing?

Thanks

Re: Recommended Paint Spray Gun?

Thanks

Do you think I'll be able to use the F&B? I'd intend to spray outdoors in the garden, does anyone know how long an air hose can be used?

If I could I'd keep the compressor in the garage and spray out in the garden - hopefully not annoying the neighbours with noise.

Recommended Paint Spray Gun?

Have been painting frames with Farrow & Ball. Which gives quite a good finish, but there's often one or two blips. I generally paint about a dozen frames at once, some quite large. Somebody suggested that I get a spray gun. I don't have a clue about them, any ideas what make and model I should l...

Larger Mouldings - Is R&H the only supplier?

I'm looking around for suppliers who stock larger mouldings? Is Rose and Hollis the only supplier that stocks larger sizes?

Thanks,

Bulk Order: Framer Needed

I'm looking for a framer able to make plain wood frames 100 at a time, and to price accordingly. This would be ongoing.

Please let me know if you're interested for more details.

Thanks

Re: Coating Painted Frame For Tack Free?

Great advice thanks.

But what about touching up? If a frame gets a knock or scratch, can it be touched up with the original paint (Farrow and Ball in my case). Or will the Polyvine impede touching up?

Btw. Have bought a pot of Polyvine to try straight away...

Do you use the waxy side of the paper in contact with the frame? No issues with the brown paper sticking (obviously)?

Re: Coating Painted Frame For Tack Free?

Yes it's eggshell - which explains the slight tack.

Thanks for the Polyvine tip - looks very good. Do you think it'll go over the eggshell ok without beading etc?

Coating Painted Frame For Tack Free?

Have tried painting some frames with Farrow & Ball. I'm happy with the finish and colour, but the paint can feel slightly tacky when dried. Which worries me when wrapped and sent in the post. Is there a varnish or other coating that will both protect and leave the frame tack free?

Thanks

I need a new mitre saw, but wondering if I can buy a used guillotine for a similar price? Needs to be able to deal with 4" (100mm) width mouldings.
