Re: Cancelled order, alternative suggestions for moulding...

I thought I'd give an update in case anyone else is having a similar issue.

I have been having chevrons cancelled from my orders, and then my fairly large (for me) chop order was cancelled.

After speaking with customer service, I was asked for an account number I didn't appear to have. It turns ...

UK Premier Supplies wrote: Tue 29 Apr, 2025 2:05 pm Hi Bang,

We can recommend My Room Art as a picture mount supplier. They have taken over the supply of picture mounts for Kadinsky customers and offer mount kits with backing and cellophane bags plus Kadinsky's Iced White and Cream colour options:

I'll do that. I've sent them a message but will follow up on Monday with a call.

The frames are pretty big, 535 x 1130mm. Maybe to do with that, though haven't had issues before. 🤔

Cancelled order, alternative suggestions for moulding...

Hi everyone!

I recently put in a chop order for five large frames from Larson Juhl, it initially went through but has just been cancelled without explanation...which sucks.

I'm guessing someone ordered the same moulding at a similar time and they've perhaps run out... But I'm not having any luck ...

Re: Can’t explain see pictures

My brain is spinning and frozen at the same time. I’m sure I have attached similar before. Now I don’t know.

I have already cut and glued the moulding.

It’s printed mass production ”art” so if there is a solution but not by all the rules it’s ok by me.

Fletcher mount cutter, shaving the guide plate

Cutting mounts the other day and I noticed some crumbs of black dust like stuff on the back of my mount.

Turns out, my mount cutter blade is hitting the black plate that holds the mount in position, the plate under the guide rail.

The cutting head doesn't have any wiggle to it and moves freely. I ...

Mount wholesale recommendations

I've set up in a new premises where I work alongside a printer. Their most recent supplier of mounts has since disappeared, and we're looking for a new supplier for regular sizes... mounts at A4 and regular photo/print sizes that would be uneconomical for me to cut for the volume occasionally ...

They often have a shrink wrapping set up as part if their services.
Ask your local authority, as they usually help fund them.
Thanks!! I'll have a look. :)

Ai- reference image, sandwiching an image between glass

I used chatgpt today, I asked it for a visual reference to float frame an image between two sheets of glass so that it can be visible from both sides....

I thought some of you may be interested in the efficacy of using such technology.

I've attached the reference it provided in case anyone wants ...

Re: Shrink Wrapping Prints

I'm interested in this too.

I have a couple of artists who regularly ask me to cut mounts for them.

I'd like to offer them a shrink wrapping service...

Is there a particular system or way if doing it that you'd recommend?

Thanks!

Re: Large picture, acrylic, Newton's rings problem?

The last time this happened to me, I think it was pramsay who advised using thin strips of gummed tape or frame sealing tape on the outside edge of the slip, hidden by the rebate to just slightly lift the glazing off the painted slip. From memory I think it took two layers for sufficient ...

Re: Thoughts on the number of views on a thread

Is it my analysis training or is there something wrong with the data reporting of number of views on some threads.
Some threads seem to report an historical average number of reads while others appear to have a dramatic readership reaching into the multi-thousands.

It is my thought that this ...

Large picture, acrylic, Newton's rings problem?

I'm framing a large picture which is becoming a bit of a 'mare.

Help/suggestions appreciated!

I've taped the hell out of the edges, 4mm in to try and relieve any pressure on the white wood slip/fillet, but I am still getting Newton's rings or little dark marks that disappear with pressure. The ...

Re: Framing without glass

There will be people on the forum that know better than I do.

There are 'conservation' level laminating adhesives but I think the biggest problem is that it's not a particularly easy process to reverse. So it's useful for prints and replaceable items... but not great for original artwork.

Re: Framing without glass

Beautiful effects there! I like it!

I used to know an artist who encased his paintings in gel medium, in big blocks of the stuff. Must've cost an absolute fortune!! Another used resin.

Lovely techniques and surfaces!

I wonder if laminating the paper to a board using a hot press would work ...
