Re: Odd size alloy frame

It's not for the standard Neilson narrower ones either though. It's just maybe half a mil too narrow for the bigger fittings.

Re: Odd size alloy frame

The frame is not bent and I've tried every end to see if the fitting goes in - but it doesn't.

I may resort to angle grinder, but it's not ideal as uneven edges will introduce some play.

I'm wondering if it was originally one of these frames where they put it together with a non reusable fitting ...

Odd size alloy frame

Customer came in with a picture and the sides of a metal frame that had been framed in.

They have lost (!?) the corner fittings.

I assumed that I would have some in my box of bits, but I haven't managed to find any that fit.

The channel that the corner fixings should go into seems to be very ...

Re: Can’t explain see pictures

Canvas offsets.

If you want loads you can get them off Lion or any of the other suppliers.

If you want to do just this pic then pack of 10 for £1.95 inc postage off ebay.

If they are a bit too big or small just adjust with pliers.

Vertical picture hangers

I found this product in the 2020 Lion hardware catalogue but they no longer stock it.

I phoned them and they said it came from a US company called Precise Hanging Systems.

I can't find that company.

Does anyone know where I could get this item (6468) or similar - I want them to hang an array of 7 ...

Re: 2 x Posters - Design Considerations

There are a couple of Wessex mouldings (possibly also available elsewhere) that immediately spring to mind for the Sleep Paralysis poster.

MO4643 and D3753

Both dark brown / black with distressed gothic look - used them both on similar items.

Re: Stacking V-Nails

I don't bother trying to stack more than 2 x 12mm wedges, except perhaps in V soft wood like obeche for a very deep frame like the box profile I use for football shirts.

Re: Underpinned is crushing frames.

I've sometimes had this problem with mouldings with very thin/sharp front edges - eg a bevel profile, or with some gilt mouldings (like the one you show) where the gilt finish has cracked and flaked off.

If I have a moulding that I think might cause problems then I use a triangular bit of ply about ...

Hanging pictures to line up.

I am doing 30 framed prints for a customer that they want to hang in a grid formation.

If I wanted to make their lives easier could I fit something better than picture wires for them to self install?

What is this mounting technique?

This came up on my instagram feed - David Shrigley prints being float mounted - but near the end you can see one of the prints with lots of tabs sticking out around the print while it is on the mountboard.

What's going on? Is it normal/optimal to be using so many hinges?

Re: Multi-Aperture Mounts - realistically, should I be using a CMC?

I did 4 mounts for 4 5x5 arrays of postcards by hand - but only the once!

If I can't use the production stop on my Ultimat Futura to set the start of my cut then I set it to 0 mm and push it down with my left index finger onto a line drawn on the back of the mount to mark the start of the cut. At ...

Moulding with Celtic Knot?

Customer says he *had* a frame with a carved celtic knot motif - possibly in a natural oak.

This was some time ago.

He'd like something similar.

Anyone know of such a moulding?

More trouble than it's worth.

Flat black moulding is cheap as chips from any basics range.

Just make a new frame.
