Client has come in with this poster which is approx 2350 x 1110 mm.
Would like it framed to hang on the wall.
Any thoughts?

Re: Hot presses
That all makes sense, thanks.
I've got an old hard bed Keencut Bonding machine but there is an Ademco machine for sale nearby that looks very similar, so from your comments I would guess that it is even older than my machine and that maybe Keencut Bonding rebranded an Ademco one anyway.

Hot presses
What's the difference (if any) between an Ademco and Keencut hot press.
Superficially they look very similar but did one company take over the product from the other?

Re: Keencut Ultimat Futura Problem
Not sure if this counts as a bodge and it's not something I've been taught to do, but as I pull the cutter with my right hand I use my left hand (finger) to hold the edge of the guide down onto the mountboard just ahead of where the blade is. i.e. I slide my left hand along just ahead of the cutter....

Re: Large multi-aperture mount.
Just read the recent multi-aperture pricing thread.
V interesting but my thoughts were along lines of Gesso & Bole - that I would just be paying an hourly rate for CMC time and that most of the cost would be in the set-up, then probably a nominal extra cost for further mounts after the first?

Large multi-aperture mount.
I need to make 8 mounts - approx 56 x 77 cm with a 5 x 5 array of apertures for postcards. I don't have a CNC cutter and in the past I've made these by hand, but it takes ages and is a bit stressful. Does anyone offer a service whereby you can produce your own files then send them somewhere to do th...
Re: Retail
You may have been speaking in jest re' the glass seagulls, but the artist who shares the space with me is selling these V tasteful (IMHO) glass birds on behalf of another local stained glass artist and has sold over £500 worth since just before Christmas.
Re: Retail
I do have a hanging system in the window. Here's a pic of my Chrtistmas card/advent calendar display.
I couldn't use a tensioned system though as that whole white shelf is on wheels so I can get it out of the way if necessary.
Quite like the clothes line frame idea.

Retail
My workshop is in the front of a highstreet shop (Where people can watch me working through the window! Eek!) but I do have a bit of retail space in the window itself, on a card carousel inside the front door, and on one long wall. Whilst picture framing is a fine occupation, what I really love is s...

Re: What do you listen to when working?
I use my phone to stream stuff, using wi-fi for data, to a bluetooth speaker (actually a Brennan BB1) so I can have it next to me on the workbench and turn it down/off as soon as someone comes in. I listen to a lot of podcasts - there really are so many on such a wide range of topics that there will...

Re: Identify tray frame moulding please.
Front face of the upstand bit is 10 mm
I've found a few that are similar but I'm looking for identical - I'm pretty sure it's a current moulding as I think this frame was done in the last few months.

Identify tray frame moulding please.
I need to match to a customer's existing pictures (framed elsewhere). I am looking for a tray frame moulding that is 45 mm x 33 mm and with the 33 mm side perpendicular to the wall the facing edge is 10 mm. Already looked at Wessex, Centrado, Lion and R&H catalogues but can't see one exactly the...

Re: When canvas offsets don't reach??
I make a frame out of the appropriate size obeche spacer and glue flush to the inside edge of the frame - then you can fix to that if necessary.
If you're painting the frame then add the spacer frame first and paint that too.

Wessex FIne Art will cut a pretty big mount for you and include it with a van drop order if you buy from Wessex. Also will cut pretty big bits of acrylic.

X-ACTO 24 blades?
Anyone own/use a Gene Green's Oval Machine to cut round/oval mounts? I've got one and the recommended blade is an X-ACTO #24 blade. I've run out of blades and can't seem to find anyone that stocks the replacements. Does anyone know what other blades might be compatible with the X-ACTO ones? I've loo...

Re: What do we do with left over pieces of mountboad in unpopular colours.
I have a couple of boxes of offcuts (one whites, one colours) of around 40 x 30 cm. Too big to throw away, too small to go with my main rack of part sheets. I used to keep them under a bench. Then I had the brilliant idea of leaving them in view in my shop and putting an "offcuts £1" sign ...

Yes - minimal value so no need for reversibility.
Actually, I found another thread on a similar subject where people were suggesting Fastmount so I might try that.

Dry mount plastic "canvas"?
A customer would like some posters that have been printed onto a plastic canvas framed under glass. The posters bleed off the canvas so there is no way to stretch them. But they also have some slight wrinkling (looks like cockling would on paper) so I would like to dry mount them. Normally I dry mou...
