Re: Chop service Lion
My mistake clearly. I thought a chop service being double the price actually meant that I would have usable pieces....

Chop service Lion
Hi All I’m pretty frustrated! I don’t often use a chop service unless it’s a moulding that is quite large and I will need more than one length and then waste the rest. I also have limited space to cut so it seems sensible to use it on occasion. Two items recently have arrived which suited the Bamboo...

You mean channel my inner Blue Peter skills?
Thanks I will have a look on eBay. Personally I think it would look a whole lot better in a different frame....

Velvet frame?!?
Hi All and happy September (did we have a summer?) Have an Airbnb guest arriving at weekend (side business) and they mentioned they had a picture to reframe. I said to bring it and I’d have a look but requested a photo so I knew what I’d be working with. Mmmmmm...! It’s an old china piece with a vel...

Re: Display options
I use carpet tiles glued to my walls so they could work on a wall divider? The Velcro sticks well to them and as long as the spray adhesive you use on the wall is strong, they should stay up no problem. I have three areas with chevrons on with either dark blue or grey carpet tiles. I got them from a...
Re: Art glass
I think I did something like this recently but not sure I took a photo of finished piece! :| I did post asking for suggestions on here some time ago but ended up asking a friend who makes windows. I’ve attached the original glass. It was a piece of coloured glass which was quite nobbly. The client w...

Re: Labels for back of frames
I design my own with my logo and my website on them. I use a brilliant company online called Banana Print and they are very quick and cheap too! I usually get done at the same time as my business cards and pay about £21 for 100 cards and 140 labels. They come really well packaged and I recently did ...

Re: Moulding ideas needed, please.
I thought this moulding would be perfect as it’s a dark blue and black and I knew I had a little in stock so mentioned it to her. Sadly I don’t have enough and I have since discovered it’s discontinued by Wessex. So I am wondering what else to use. She will be fine with whatever I decide but having ...

Moulding ideas needed, please.
8F06E5EC-4D00-4820-9DC1-76AAA889AC72.jpeg Need help/suggestions, please! I have three etchings in for framing all of which would have worked beautifully with a discontinued moulding from Wessex (ROB54). I only have two metres left which isn’t nearly enough. It’s about 14mm and dark blue with a blac...

Re: Any way to ship a frame with glass?
My brother works for a wine merchants and they use APC due to shipping fragile bottles. They did once change to a cheaper alternative but switched quickly back again. I did try to ship a large picture via them but I think because wasn’t registered with them as a business they wouldn’t take it and it...

Thanks I will give her a call. The guy in Devon could do the other but wasn’t confident about the glue.

Re: Moulding ID required please
Update on this too! I ordered the Lion veneer and it duly arrived. I used a light wood stain and on the sample got it spot on. Then I thought I had overdone it with actual frame. :head: Cue much cussing and friend helping. Eventually I got it looking pretty respectable and contacted the client. She ...

Re: Unsticking old glue?
Update on this. I contacted Andrew who sadly didn’t think he’d be able to do it. But he did suggest I try the Institution of Conservators and look through their list. I have found someone in Devon but again he’s unsure although I have also now been given a heavily stained certificate on parchment wh...

Unsticking old glue?
Hi I have just purchased a very old cheque (1905) plus receipt an letter which are of family historical value to me. I would like to frame the individual pieces but they are all glued to card. I have attached photos. The glue seems quite “stuck” and I am unsure how to go about unsticking the items w...

Re: Wiping dust from photographs
I actually use a small hand held vacuum.....cue many on here screaming....”what?!” I clean the glass using a glass cleaner and blue paper towel, then go round and round and round with my little vacuum. It works brilliantly. I think I bought it for about £12 from Asda. It has a soft brush atta...

Moulding ID required please
A client brought in a ready framed photo of a graduation of her elder daughter. Younger daughter has now graduated and she wants an identical frame. I have looked.....but can’t seem to find a match so need some help please. It’s 35mm x 35mm and looks like a veneer to me? I’ve looked through Wessex a...

Re: Sort of stained glass pane
That makes sense and sort of the answer I was thinking. I spoke to the Fine Art dept at Wessex today and she suggested a shallow regular moulding then a thin spacer moulding on the back. But it doesn’t seem to me to be the neatest way. I have a friend who restores sash windows so he might be able to...

Sort of stained glass pane
A regular client brought this small piece of glass and wants it framed like the top photo example so he can see through it. What sort of moulding do I use?
Thanks
