Suggested framing options.....

Any suggestions on framing/mounting options for this (see photo). Customer is wanting it re framing and a new mount board but I fear that it will fall to pieces when I take it out the frame.

She doesn't want it restoring.

She has said it is approximately 25 x 32 inches.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Skull and crossbones frame moulding

Thanks for the quick response.
I will ask the question with centrado as I feel the moulding would be a popular choice for a few of my customers.

Tudor Rose - I will share the image with my customer to see if this is what they are wanting. If it is, I will come back to you.

Thanks again.

Skull and crossbones frame moulding

I have had a request from a customer if I can frame something with a skull and crossbones frame moulding.

Does anything like this exist from any UK suppliers?

Mounting a leather stencil

A customer brought in this leather object for framing yesterday. Its from Cambodia and has sentimental value to her. We talked through options on how best to mount and I suggested using invisible thread as it has lots of tiny holes punched in to form the design. The customer is happy with this appro...

Re: Thoughts on methods of stretching cross stitches

Thank you John and Justin for taking the time to respond. John - I hear what you are saying about stitchers stitch and let framers frame πŸ˜€. I am always open to different ways of working, providing it doesn't compromise the quality of the finished work. Stitching extensions to lessen the gap at the b...

Thoughts on methods of stretching cross stitches

Just wondering on how other framers stretch cross stitches for framing. I have been lacing them on the back, but I attended a cross stitch event this weekend and was speaking to a lady who runs a cross stitch sampler guild. She was saying the correct way to lace is to lace a pice of linen on to a pi...

Re: Shipping frames

I've used boxes from www.davpack.co.uk and www.rajapack.co.uk before. They do lots of size variations. It might be a case of finding the closest dimensions first and then making your frames to fit the box, allowing space for bubblewrap etc.

Re: Wanted - wizard 8000

Thanks for the responses.

John - I've no personal experience of the wizard just what I have read up on, so open to looking at other options (but on a budget, hence second hand).

Ross - I have dropped you a message

Thanks again

Wanted - wizard 8000

I don't suppose anyone knows of where I can look for a second hand wizard 8000 which might be for sale. I see from some old posts that they have been advertised on this forum but as they are from last year, I am guessing they have already been sold.

Thanks

Re: Waves in printed media

Thanks Justin. My search for someone local who has a hot press hasn't been fruitful as yet, but I will keep searching. Prosperous, I think your description of a "bump" is what it is, although only slight, but it is what is stopping it laying flat along with the waves. Why is it, what you t...

Re: Waves in printed media

Thank you for responding. It's not glicee but a heavy paper which is approx 40x30cm. When I have tried to flatten it its as if (and I know this sounds silly) the paper is wider in the middle than at edges, therefor it leaves a raise section wherever you get to last. I have put it back under some hea...

Waves in printed media

A customer has brought in a print in for framing and said it has been rolled up in the back of the wardrobe for the last 30 years. She brought it out of her car on a very windy day day, unrolled, and it was flapping about in the wind. I had a head in hands moment  It does have a few bends in t...

Looking for discontinued moulding 007-4914

I don't suppose anyone has a few lengths of 007-4914 from Mainline Mouldings that I could buy. A customer chose this for 3 pictures this morning but it is now discontinued stock.

Thought I'd try here first before calling her back to let her know.

Thanks

Re: PAPYRUS MIOUNTING

framed a large papyrus last year and after doing some research I opted to use Japanese paper tape and wheat starch glue to adhere the papyrus to a 5mm foam board. I found the foam board gave more stability when moving it around for framing. I weighted it down whilst adhering it as the papyrus was qu...
