Re: which way up?
Why not just send them the frame with 2 'D' rings, 2 screws and a length of cord and they can hang it anyway they want!!

Needlepoint woes
Hi Guys/Gals, I had a very fussy (her words) customer bring in a piece of needlepoint for mounting & framing, she stated that she wanted all the pattern of the material in line and square to the moulding when it was in the frame, so far so good? When she brought it in and I examined it, it was a...

A bit of social history??
In the early part of the 20th Century an artist called Hannah Gluckstein (aka Gluck) invented and patented a frame called the 'Gluck Frame'. Apparently, it was triple layered and was decorated to match the wall on which it was hung. Has anyone got any information or pictures of such a frame, was it ...

Glass in France
Hi Guys & Gals, I'm off to France in a month or so for good, when our house is finished in January I will have a good sized workshop in the grounds and intend to work from home for once. Moulding isn't a problem, I think I know where I can locate mountboard, however, I'm not sure about 2m...

Re: Medals and silicone
I'd never use silicone near medals, in fact any adhesive should be avoided unless you can be sure the acid content will not effect the metal, as most medals are made of alloys, it would be hard to tell if one particular medal would be safe until it was too late. I always wire my medals direct onto t...

Anyone in SE with a CMC Mountcutter??
Hi there, has anyone in London/Kent got a CMC Mountcutter and could help a fellow forum member? I've taken on a job of framing 50 cigarette cards as a favour for someone, however, due to workload I'm a little tight for time (before Christmas, as usual :head: ), could someone give me an idea of times...

Framing a set of cigarette cards. Advice needed
Hi Guys/Girls, advice required, A client wants me to frame a set of 50 cigarette cards, mounted so you can see the reverse. I was thinking of using the small plastic sleeves and sticking the sleeves to the mount, I am toying with the idea of cutting a 2nd mount to tidy up the reverse side as well, a...

Re: glass stains
If the 'watermarks' you're referring to are on 'Papered Float' Glass, I have found that the normal glass cleaner doesn't clear them. The most effective way I've found is to spray the suface with very weak water/washing-up liquid and then use a small amount of Cif on a cloth, spray with the water mix...

What happens when a cord snaps???
I'm making a 6" deep box frame to house a scene made from art metalwork. To ensure the sides are square I decided to use 2 Stanley corded frame clamps one at the top and one at the bottom. I obviously don't know my own strength 'cos as I pulled the 2nd one tight it decided to 'let go', lumps of...

Computer Assisted Decision Making??
Does anyone know of a computer program where I can take a photo of a customers work, load it onto my laptop, and then shown them their work with different coloured mounts surrounding it ? Earlier this week, one of my younger, computer literate clients, photographed his work with a sample of moulding...

Carbon Fibre Framing - advice required
I've been asked to mount a high tec picture that is mounted onto a piece of carbon fibre. The customer wants a high tec/ industrial look that is 'classy', I'm toying with either mounting it onto plexiglass with a 25mm overlap and mounting that over a brushed aluminium sheet, or making a frame from p...

Thanks for that, Craig was very helpful.
Having an engineering background, I'm going to get a quote from some contacts still in the game, for a price of producing some of these, as there are so few available they seem to be made of 'unobtainium'.......

Help - Euro Underpinner Spares
Does anyone out there have a Driver Blade for an 8000 series Euro Underpinner, the part number is UP02.
It's 8mm square, 77mm long and hockey stick shaped, and mine has broken in the middle of completing an order.
If anyone can assist I would very very grateful.
