Toothy, I think the important thing to takeaway from threads like this is that there are many ways to do things.
There are plenty of experts here. Some have specifically trained and been examined by the FATG and some have learnt their trade without the Guild. Experience and knowledge comes in ...

Then don’t!

Float mount them, it’ll look far better.

Here’s some ideas.

Re: Corrugated Backing Boards and Warping !

I’d replace the backing once and at the same time tell the customer that now he’s been told that carrying a frame by the cord is wrong, and please don’t bother returning if the hardware comes away from the frame. Carry by two sides.

The bowing, well you made a frame to hang and it’s not been hung ...

Re: Print ripple

Thin card? That’s not a normal thing for prints, maybe it being less absorptive than most usual papers doesn’t help??

How about not using any hinges at all? There’s the platform mount, edge mounting strips etc.

They have got single tubes - you can see how that set was such a good price, maybe it was a mistake!

Re: Ecobra use

You can add water but sometimes the flow rate you need can diminish the effect

I started out with calligraphy and the ruling pen is just another pen really, so what worked for calligraphy worked with the ruling pen. I have an Ecobra too but it’s wider and flatter, and the top half of the nib can ...

Re: Wall mount for heaving frame (13kg)

I would too. I thought the frame contents protruded too much, but looking again I don’t think they do, strap hangers are hinged so I think they’d be fine.

Re: Wall mount for heaving frame (13kg)

If the chain is to be visible and that look is acceptable that would be great. Maybe a couple of those brackets on Scragg’s website at the bottom of the frame too.

Re: Wall mount for heaving frame (13kg)

If the chain is to be concealed behind the frame you could use coated stainless steel wire instead, but you’d probably have to buy a reel of it.

Whatever the breaking strain is, there’s the wall hooks to consider too. Use two, so the angle of the chain or whatever from them to the frame hardware ...

Re: XXL linen backed vintage movie poster to frame

Acrylic heats and cools at a more similar rate to the rest of the frame contents than glass, so condensation is unlikely.

3mm is far far too flexible over that area, I’d be looking at 8!

It’s not just the risk of it sagging out of the rebate, even if partially, it’s the likelihood of distorted ...

Re: XXL linen backed vintage movie poster to frame

That ‘s much too big for econospace.

I would either use an inner frame with an extended lip or just put the acrylic directly against it and use perimeter hinges on all sides, in either case.

What thickness acrylic are you thinking of?

It’s the outer frame that would benefit from a wider lip ...
