Re: Framing Equipment and materials
Not to muscle in, but if those blades have gone I have an ex-framer friend who has three sets of Morso blades to sell, in pretty good nick.

Re: Sticky question
I think I'll have a play around, these aren't Archive quality figures so I'm not worried about permanent fixing.
Thanks for the ideas though, much appreciated.

Re: Sticky question
Here's a pic, they're 1/87 scale figures, so about 20mm high, the frame size is about 50mm x 40mm. https://i.ibb.co/gvJQYzb/DSC-0160.jpg They're supplied stuck to extremely sticky modeling pads, but can occasionally fall over, and there are cases where I'd like to stick them directly to coloured mat...

Re: Sticky question
That's brilliant, very informative, thank you all.
So to follow up, what type of adhesive would you consider for mounting small plastic figures to mountboard. Think Lego figures (but they're not), the contract area for bonding is extremely small, like 1mm.

Sticky question
Hi,
A possibly stupid question here; is there any reason *not* to use superglue (e.g. https://www.diy.com/departments/loctite ... 175_BQ.prd) for securing small lightweight plastic objects within a small box frame?
Cheers,
Zac

Re: Do you all use some kind of software?
All good points, taken on board, thanks for taking the time to reply. I've done some comparisons and my prices are coming out pretty much on par with what FramR is producing.

Re: Do you all use some kind of software?
That's a fair point John, and I'll admit that I wasn't actually aware of it, but have just tried it out. It's certainly pretty good, but I think it may be too exacting for my needs and the way that I work at the moment. My own calculator shows me the amount of glass/board needed as a fraction of the...

Re: A dolly/cart for moving packages of glass and board?
I made some wheeled A frame kind of things (with some help from a builder friend of mine who had the big tools) from some 20mm MDF, castors from eBay, some cut down garden trellis, some lengths of 40 x 70 cm CLS timber, some lengths of 20 x 35cm batons, cupboard door handles and bits of carpet offcu...

Re: Do you all use some kind of software?
I'm a very low volume framer (at the moment) and wrote my own simple calculator in javascript that runs on a private page on my website. I'd be happy to share the code/web page and explain how it works, but I'm not in a position to support it in any kind of commercial way. It calculates things like ...

Re: Waiting for Hoffmann
That's great info, thanks both, I mostly seem to be using softwoods at the moment so maybe it's an expense best kept for later. Presumably it's OK to use for softwoods anyway though?

Waiting for Hoffmann
I think the old Cassese underpinner I inherited may be on its way out, and I keep thinking about the Hoffman dovetail router and joiner (,https://www.lionpic.co.uk/p/42550/Hoffmann-Frame-Joiner). it's very expensive. Does anyone on here have one? I'm just wondering if they're worth the money, or if ...

Internal frame lighting
Does anyone have any experience/info/resources relating to lighting a frame internally with LEDs, or perhaps of a course in this? I'm on the Framers Forum group on FB and Rob Markoff teaches a class in this, but he's in the states. Just thought that before I try getting in touch with him about it I'...

Re: Fabric work top cover
The one I learned on was just covered in brown kraft paper, but the one I inherited was covered with short-pile carpet, which I've since replaced with something similar from a carpet shop up the road who sell off their end of roll stock cheap. I have to vacuum it every day but seems to do the job.

Phew, that's a relief as that's how I do it! Hadn't heard it referred to as a 'bookmount'.

Re: Do you mount to board or barrier?
Interesting, thanks all! I was kind of using both/either depending on materials/quality but will defo stick to using a proper undermount, and thanks for the tips on keeping the associated costs down too. @prospero - I'm not sure if the 'book' mount this is a technique I already know by another name ...

Do you mount to board or barrier?
Another question on which I'd appreciate the hive mind position.
When window mounting a piece, one colleague always mounts the artwork to mountboard, another mounts the artwork to barrier board (e.g. https://www.wessexpictures.com/barrier_board.html)
Is one method preferable to the other?
