What do I do now? The painting is 32.3 cm on the right side and 33.2 cm on the left side.

Canvas glued to wood.

I’ve been thinking of adding some kind of spacer. But I really don’t know.

Use matboard as backboard?

All these off cuts … Is it okay to use matboard as backboard? I’ve got more off cuts of matboard than backboard.

Re: Hello - New from a new member

This forum is better than the grumble. At least if you just want to scroll around and read. The grumble’s layout and colours make me dizzy.

Welcome!

A real weight
Some kind of weight I found in a thrift store. I have two and these are my favourite. Small yet heavy and that little hook as a handle.
From my son. It’s a bit to light. I like the thread, good grip.

Re: Framing Workbench Design

This is my table (and mess). The previous owners made it. Except the drawers, me and two of my kids mounted them. I only have one table. (I’m in the process of planning for a second table. It’s the floor plan lying on the table.)

I cut glass, mount board, mat board and assemble on it. The top is ...

Re: How cut the mat board?

Copyright. I will remember that. Didn’t think about that at all.

If something is written on the back of the artwork I usually take a photo of it and send it to the customer.

I'd discuss it with the customer, asking them how important it is to them to show the signature and demonstrating that ...

Re: How cut the mat board?

Clever!!

The print is called "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" and if you Google up images of the original artwork, the 'signature' on the right of the print doesn't exist.
The artist's signature is on the top left of the image.
The print was obviously cut from a book collection and I'm ...

Re: How cut the mat board?

Thanks!!

I had a little conversation with myself.

Why didn’t I ask the customer?
*thinking*
Ping!
It was covered! By a label. The artwork was probably bought in a museum shop or something similar. I didn’t remove the packaging. (I’ll definitely do that the next time.)
So when I realised that the ...

How cut the mat board?

I hate when “they” do it like this….

A kind of signature on the right. Should I hide it with the mat board? Or should it be visible? But where should the mat board edge be on the left side? I think the paper is to narrow.

Do you ask the customer for (google) review?

I attended a course and one part was marketing. He talked a lot about that I have to get more reviews to get higher up when people search for framing.

A few weeks ago I got a visit from Keith  and a gave me a copy of a framing magazine. With an article about handing out google review cards ...

What to write on the back label?

The label on the back. Please decide for me. 8)

I have tried to search this forum, but it's more about what printer or supplier to use.

My predecessor had logo and contacts of course. She also had info that it was acid free and gram weight of both mat board and back board. And date and her ...

Re: Underpiner felt profiles

When I had my old Euro pinner it had a woeful top pad. I dented many a corner. Then I made a wooden triangle
and faced it with 3mm cork and wrapped it in clingfilm. OK, so you have to manually place it on the corner but
it saved a lot of denting. I made one or two other little 'helpers' so as to ...

vintage frames wrote: Thu 03 Oct, 2024 3:07 pm As everything NTG999 says.
Hold the cutter as you would a fountain pen, dip it in white spirit to lubricate it and give the glass a prep clean before cutting.
The white spirit will evaporate and clean easily without leaving an oily film.
Why a prep clean? I haven’t read about that before.

Re: How long to glass cutters last?

You can buy a diamond coated hand glass polisher off Amazon or just use a well folded piece of 180grit wet n'dry.

The downside is having to clean away the nasty glass powder which might further scratch the surface. Use a separate cloth.

Maybe only use it only on really jagged edges.

Do I ever need to tilt Valiani mat cutter?

IMG_1401.jpeg

This things seems to be for tilting my Valiani mat cutter. I like the angle. Is there any situation I want to tilt it more?

If I cut them off I will have extra space to build my new vertical storage/drawers/table solution.

If I cut them of will I one day regret it?
