Re: Help with Dibond mounted photograph

They can use wooden battens but these are 10mm thick. Your suggestion of a rear brace I had thought about, your example looks spot on! Do you think I could get away with 3mm FB for the mountboard backing. The attached image is of the previous shadow float mounted picture I mentioned. Its 400mm x 400...

Re: Help with Dibond mounted photograph

Thanks to both of you for your tips, JFeig, I will have a proper look into the method you mention, tbh I'm not too familiar with this technique ... yet! David, the image is still with the printer and therefore it can be produced without the aluminium subframe and as you say this seem this would make...

Help with Dibond mounted photograph

I have a project to frame a large photograph that has already been mounted on Dibond. The image is 1100 x 391 and comes complete with an aluminium subframe (subframe is 20mm deep and dibond is 3mm). It is to be shadow float mounted and I'm hoping to get a little guidance as this is the biggest proje...

Re: Nielsen Aluminium frame advice

Hi Louisesimon, thats what I was planning on doing :D . I had been gripping it with my hands and tightening each corner small amounts and repeating. I think as David says it will be difficult also due to the height of the profile. Just in the process of finishing off the package... we will see. than...

Nielsen Aluminium frame advice

Screen Shot 2018-08-13 at 13.16.14.png Hi all, I am looking for some advice in how to correctly fix together an aluminium frame. It seems straight forward with the supplied hardware ('L' fixing plates and springs) but so far I've spent about an hour tweaking each corner trying to get neat corners w...

Re: Float mounting a photograph

Thanks for the replies Richard/James - I will look to have the images mounted on Foamex / aluminium. I had thought conventional hinging could cause cockling and keeping it flat another problem. I also just read over a previous post you had comment on Richard, 'Float mounted aluminium print' all good...

Float mounting a photograph

Hi all, Happy New Year! It’s been a while since I last posted but I have been busy framing and I have been continuingly reading old/new posts. As a newbie I’m still cutting my teeth but actually very happy with the frames I have produced so far with all the ‘left-hand fence’ tweaks, upgrading from h...

Re: Hello Hello

Hahah! Defo the first! Yep, no brainier (for me at least) a pneumatic underpinner all the way.

Still on the hunt for one if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Cheers

Re: Hello Hello

Thank you for the warm welcome gang and thanks to Jamesnkr I now have a big green choppin' machine!

Still on the hunt for a pneumatic underpinner but using my time, while I do, to research popular mouldings.

Thanks

Hello Hello

Hi all, I’m a newbie here on the forum and to framing. I have spent the last month reading through previous threads and its great to see such a wealth of experience and advice given here. As it says ‘tell us about yourself’, well it’s been a winding road up this point. I have been a semi-professiona...
