Re: Mainline All size stretcher Bars

... something else when my current stock runs out. I don't think the magic morso rebate support that slides into slots is a common accessory, though mainline did kindly offer to look on ebay for me. It is a lot of faffing to feed the sacrificial mdf to the morso which only makes a quick job much ...

Re: Mainline All size stretcher Bars

Thanks for the link. :D It looks like they have added the back slot to counteract the twist. Not sure it would cure the prob completely. More ready cut-bits to buy...... IMHO it's a case of over-thinking or re-inventing the wheel. btw. On the Wessex (think Simons do it as well) stuff I cut my own tr...

I've used and and found the same problem. I used mdf, although I don't use that stretcher moulding anymore as I didn't like the slotted back.

Re: Mainline All size stretcher Bars

A bit expensive for a 'budget' job, 2 way is far cheaper. Though it doesn't enable you to tension the canvas, that is usually not required on a 'budget' job.

Re: Mainline All size stretcher Bars

... not to deform too much as the blade goes though. On smaller ones you could always use a sacrificial bit of plywood in the slot when cutting. The mainline system is a bit more sophisticated with slots at the back. Never tried them. I find the Wessex ones work fine to a point. One issue is that ...

Mainline All size stretcher Bars

... enter the slot in the bar to prevent damage. The morso in the video seems to have a rebate support without the spud under the adjustable support. Mainline say the video was produced by the stretcher bar manufacturer and not their equipment. I ordered a pack on the strength of the video. Has anyone ...

The silvery one is definitely Arqadia, the other used to be produced by Arqadia and Mainline but think it's discontinued now.

Re: Morso Blades - Again (yes, sorry)

... process which apart from wasted time is easily sorted (hopefully). The problem with being in N Ireland is we're limited on options. I'm sure mainline etc are excellent but I've been quoted around £70 pet sharpen :( - the carriage is a killer. Anyway, I'll update this next week & thanks again ...

Trying to match a moulding

... on checking today it’s discontinued. Im struggling to find anything with a similar profile and finish. Any ideas? I have looked at Lion, Wessex, Mainline and Holroyds. Was also wondering if that finish is something that could be done by a hand finishing newby like myself, I’ve only done stains ...

Re: Blade sharpening.

Wessex and Centrado offer a sharpening service and if you have a van delivery there is no carriage cost. Mainline actually have a Morso built sharpener so for my money, even though you have to pay carriage, this is the one to go for.

Re: Morso Blades

Thanks for the quick replies, this is a great forum :) Unfortunately they've been back to Wessex numerous times and the last time I tried Mainline and they were better but they are still chewing the barewood Ayous moulding i'm trying to cut. Where do you recommend sharpening? Are there any ...
