Re: dry mounting on a large scale... perthshire?
I’ve just completed a batch of prints (A1) and each one was backed onto 2.8mm conservation board. They are for an exhibition at Glasgow University and the ‘student’ couldn’t afford frames. This is a fairly rigid board and will under normal situations remain flat. I used my jet mount/cold mount lamin...

Re: Large digital print
These plasticky type canvasses do indeed lend themselves to stretching in the conventional manner and can then be framed either tray style or normal moulding etc. Having said that I often (after explaining the process to the customer) apply these to 5 or 6mm MDF board. For a print of this size I wou...

Cassese Cartridge wedges
Hi, I have a CS1 Cart underpinner and whilst it has its foibles and temperaments I am pretty happy with how it performs. I took advice on here some time ago to instead of buying the cartridges refill them with other types such as Alfamacchine wedges etc. I did this for a while and whilst it is cheap...

Re: Waves in printed media
You say it’s a print. Is it a Giclèe print on good quality paper? What size is it? Can it be cold mounted onto a substrate to flatten it out? What about self adhesive board if the customer is ok with that? I’m also a watercolour artist and often flatten out my work, if the paper is cockled/rippled b...

Can anyone identify this machine?
I have been asked to help sell up a recently passed framers workshop on behalf of his wife. I went round and took some photos and most of his machinery is pretty old albeit still I. Good working order. This photo is his mitring guillotine and I’ve never seen anything like it,not could I find any ide...

Re: Another float mounting question
56 views and no responses yet so here’s a few questions to consider. Is the paper proper flat at the outset? Is the bowed end the last end you work on and therefore you may be creating the bowed effect as you work round the piece? Are you using enough bridge hinges or are there too large gaps betwee...
Re: Poor cuts
I have three sets of blades and I only have confidence in one of them. I think the other two have been badly sharpened and I find it a very time consuming game trying to align them on the Morso. There is a slight gap with the badly sharpened blades that can be compensated for by tweaking the left fe...

Really Annoying
I signed in to the forum, raised a new post, bit of a lengthy help me issue. When I went to submit the post I received a ‘you need to sign in to post’ message, signed in again and my post has disappeared.

I take it you will have considered extending the mount margins to cover the tear? Sorry for stating the obvious

Re: Stupid question alert - double rebate frames
I’m not sure if the spacer is effectively built in as you suggest. Surely the sides will be bare wood at best and perhaps showing the black overspray from the finish at worst. I would think you will need a spacer, made perhaps from the same material as your mount boards? You could attach the mountbo...

Re: Ceramic Tile Framing advice, Thank you
I recently framed a couple of heart shaped ceramic tiles that were made especially with the footprint and hand print of newly born babies pressed into the tile whilst in its wet clay form then dried and glazed. A piece of ribbon had been stuck onto the back using silicone as a hanging strap and this...

Re: Best UK Moulding Supplier
Mainline are very good and I have ordered mouldings from them. Their polcore range is good and in some cases unique in certain embossed type mouldings. They are my go to for Morso blade sharpening and my blades always come back in tip top form.

Re: Best UK Moulding Supplier
I’ve been in business for several years and my main supplier is Lion. They have a large selection of mouldings and are great at sending samples of anything you ask for to show to customers. Other suppliers do this as well but not as energetically as Lion in my experience. Most of my customers choose...
