Cassese underpinners
I've recently worked my way through a few second hand underpinners, and I think it's time to buy new. I'm thinking about a cassese - in particular the 199xl - but there website says they're going to shortly be bringing in a new range of underpinners. Anyone know anything about this? I'm holding back...

Re: backlighting a frame
stcstc is right there - it is all about diffusing the lightsource without getting hotspots. I made some fairly large backlit panels usings LED lightsheets - diffused acrylic panels with LEDs mounted in the sides http://ledsignlighting.co.uk/led-sheet.htm. The beauty of these is you can have a very n...

Re: Staff
Although I don't employ anyone, I imagine it depends on who you can get in. A friend of mine managed to employ 2 people (unskilled) on a voluntary basis for a 3 month probationary period leading to full time employment. When he advertised for the position he said he didn't get many applying but the ...

hanging a narrow moulding frame
This sort of seems like a bit of a basic question, but how do you hang a frame with a narrow moulding? where do the fixings go? I've managed to be framing for about 18 months and never do a frame with a narrow moulding. The moulding in question has a 15mm face - I got a little confused when I came a...

Morso measuring
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for an upgrade to my current measuring system (a length of wood clamped to the r/h morso arm) to either an engraved r/h arm or a new measuring system, both in metric.
Anything out there?

One supplier (who shall go un-named for now) keep sending me invoices for other peoples orders.
Does that count?

moulding type
I'm looking for a moulding with a deep rebate, but with an extra rebate at the base of the moulding on the inside. I'm sure I've seen a good few of them when I haven't been looking for them, but now I need a specific one they're nowhere to be found The only one I can find is from Ashworth and Thomps...

Mine's been cut at 800mm. The first fixed section does run to 500mm, but the second has definitely been cut

Morso measuring system
I'm looking for a complete measuring system to go on the Morso F if anyone has a spare. I tried to figure mine out for a while when I got the Morso, and gave up and just marked with a pencil. I've only just realised that the previous owner has cut the fixed ruler short so that it doesn't run the ful...

Couple of things..
Hello folks, Firstly, just wondering if anyone knew of a maple moulding in existence, 10mm face, 25mm back and a 4mm rebate? I've been presented with it for a matching frame to be made. It wasn't a custom moulding, but it was from Germany :? . Second question is how do you cut aluminium or acp? for ...

Re: Looking for a new "best friend"
I realise you said not too camp, but a labradoodle is much manlier than it sounds. They don't shed, and if you can get one which displays more labrador characteristics then they do look like dogs. Although if you get one which is part toy poodle then they just look like mops. This is a labrador pood...

Re: Pricing for expertise
I'm not sure that I didn't read this quote on here actually, but I heard/read that Picasso was talking to a journalist and did a sketch on a scrap of paper. The journalist asks how much it's worth, and Picasso responds with " a million dollars". The journalist is amazed, and asks how somet...

Re: Gilding training
I did go to Jan Pike's gilding workshop at Lion, I assume it was the most recent one. It was just the afternoon but it was really excellent, came away with a couple of gilded chevrons, both water gilded and oil gilded. She managed to fit a lot into 3 hours. The chevrons were pre-prepared though so p...

Re: 3D Printing
I think this is an exciting technology indeed. I have a friend who is a model maker who says the price is coming down fast. The technology involved is apparently quite simple, and as a result there's quite a few 'home brewers' making their own machines. This said the materials used to print are stil...

Re: Hanging pictures flush with one another
What immediately came to mind was a bezel system, I think they're called keyhole something :Slap: ...I'll find a link... here http://www.lionpic.co.uk/product/Keyhole-Heavy-Duty-Hangers---Wall-Bezel-10,8863,0.aspx But I'm thinking you want them absolutely flush with the wall, no gap at all. These ar...
