Re: Card reader & App payment system
I was using a mobile based Payleven machine. It was awful. It would refuse every other card, it would disconnect halfway through, it would switch itself off :head: We're on a fixed terminal through lloyds bank now, it was a nightmare to get setup but it's a dream machine in use. Charges are less tha...

Re: Morso EH help please!
Great news.
Sends a mild shiver of panic through me when someone's main machine goes down. Not sure what we'd do if our morso or underpinner gave up

Ours installed halfway through printing. It's complete madness, I wish I'd known how to stop it before. No matter how many times you click No Thanks, it just goes ahead without permission.

Image ghosting on glass
When taking apart frames for reframing, there's often a sort of dusty mirror-image mark of the work on the back of the glass.
What's causing such a thing? It's normally when the image is in contact with the glass, or when it's not you can at least see where the mount had been.

Re: How best to clean rollers
Cover a board (A4 is fine) in double sided adhesive on both sides, then run it through the rollers. It'll pick up any dust/paper remnants.

Re: Move off the highstreet??
We've moved off the high street mainly to reduce overheads and it was a really good move. We're now on the edge of town in an area of redevelopment with barbed wire fences and an abertoire to get past to reach us. Sounds bad I know, but our existing clients were happy to find us and their recommenda...

Re: Scratch resistant UV acrylic
Thanks Robo.
I just spoke to our new Centrado rep who informed me that any cast acrylic is scratch resistant. There was I thinking I was buying a one of its kind product with Artshield, not to be found anywhere else. Sucked in by branding again.

Scratch resistant UV acrylic
Hi folks,
Is wessex the only place to sell scratch resistant UV acrylic? I can find scratch resistant acrylic but seemingly not with the UV protection with it.
I buy Artshield from Wessex but it's the only thing I buy from them now.

Re: Card reader & App payment system
I used payleven for a while but it was just a pita.
I've just been looking at worldpay which is consistantly cheaper that payleven and runs through the phoneline. A bit dearer to start out but that would be saved in no time in comparison to payleven.

Re: Glass cloth / wipes
We use rags from a local commercial laundrette. They throw out tonnes of the stuff, they bag it up and hand it out. If they've not got any then I ask house clearance people, they've always got bags of old sheets or towels.

Re: Bespoke stretcher bars
Ordered a set of fairly large bars last week - just shy of 2m x 1.5m - from Tim.
Came next morning, with accompanying cross bars - great quality stuff. I can second the recommendation.

Iron slab
I had a chap come in the other day asking if I had an iron slab. He said most other framers he'd been to had iron slabs because they're perfectly flat. I don't have one, and I didn't know it was or is a thing for framers to have them. Anyone know why I'd want a perfectly flat slab? Or have I been do...
