Back Board

Hi, I waited to see where this thread was heading, and like Merlin and Markw, my customers prefer to look at the front of the item, and yes the back has to be finished off neat, tidy and in a professional way. Unlike Merlin, I always use the same board as my barrier board as my top mount, for exampl...

Glass

Hi Dermot, Not at all being disparaging about any glass company in Eire, and my knowledge base comes direct from students coming through the school here, and everyone has the same tale to tell, and to be honest the glass price in Eire is way and above anyting here and on the UK mainland, why is that...

Glass

Hi Stephen, I hear quite often from ex students, of the huge price paid in Eire for glass, goodness knows where suppliers get this from? I heard last week from one student in Wicklow who rang to say he was quoted almost 15 Euro + 21% VAT a sheet, and some in Carlow who are paying almost 10 Euro + 21...

Glass

Hi John, We have 2 flights of stairs here, and up until 2 1/2 years ago our workshop was on the 3rd floor, which meant carrying the glass 5 sheets at a time up the first flight which is straight, the problem was the second flight, which started straight for 4 steps and then turned back on itself ver...

Glass prices

Hi John, Sorry I just looked at my original posting, and neglected to mention....£2.50 + VAT = £2.94....Whats very annoying is that differing companies have different quantities for their 'pallet size', to get this price down to just over 2 quid + VAT a sheet..I just have not got the room for anythi...

Glass

Hi Roboframer, I thought I was lucky to pay just £2.50, but fair play to you. The main problem here is the distinct lack of dedicated 2mm suppliers, so unfortunately we have to take what we can get, and when we can get it. There are some framing wholesalers trying their hand at it, and most do a goo...

Moulding Required

Hi, Hateful thing, having to ask other framers for help and assistance, but, is there any framer in Northern Ireland dealing with D&J Simons could possibly help with a moulding? Moulding Numbers are: 5406/1439 and 000K/0099 , both are black / flat. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Steven

Hi Welcome to the forum. I am not that far from you, and would recommend CP Productions Ltd, Lisburn, Co. Antrim...+44 28 9260 1436, ask for Colin Flack, he should be able to sort you out. Colin can order the wall system from Keencut for you, unfortunately Keencut do not supply individuals. If you h...

Hi Gary, In our training school we use both the Ultimat Gold and the Fletcher-Terry 2200, and then the students make up their own minds, like wisewe use the Casesse 89 and the Morso UP-M underpinners and again let them make up their own minds. Both machines are excellent, both give great quality mou...

Spring Fair

Hi Mr Ranes II,

Glad to see you arrived home safe and sound. Excellent products as Fletcher are producing, esecially the fillet cutter dont need that much plugging, they speak for themselves.

I do hope to see you before next Spring Fair, if I can get things organised this end.

Hi John,

Apparently, if you'd have blinked, sneezed or whatever, you would have missed what S&W did this year, my wife did neither and still missed them..ah well. Fortunately my wife has spoken to them since or return home.

Many thanks John

Papryus

Hi, Some framers stick this down, or dry mount it, but for me the best way is as follows: 1. I use a piece of moutboard (conservation quality) to use as an undermount and to attach the papryus to..using hinges hidden behind 2. I like the idea of seeing the entire object, rough edges and all, so I wo...

Spring Fair

Hi keuth, We thought the fair was an awful lot busier than the normal Sunday. Tried to talk to Mike Braddock a few times but he was inundated with clients, so I left it, and said I'd speak to him via email at a later stage. I felt that there was nothing really knew on the market this time around, ap...

Getting The Customer

Hi, Without getting into the 'why fors' and 'why nots' of.....and into a discussion about Fine Art Trade Guild, over the past 2 years, as members of the Guild, we have had a huge amount of success for our training school coming through our listing in the Guild's Directory, so for us, its more than m...

Hi, Usually we would do like norymags, and remove the insides, but we replace the insides with either 3mm or 5mm foam core, to help make it look more like the original state, and give it some stability, and then float it on an undermount, using conservation corners, or conservation tapes on the rear...
