looking for an ornate wooden frame

... like to be able to offer them something at least. I'm wondering about an ornate moulding and using a slip to give a bit more depth. I've looked at mainline and wessex but their ornate moulding are mostly gold/silver. Does anyone do an ornate wooden moulding?

Anyone recognise this moulding?

... been much help - I suppose they are interested in the painting rather than the frame. The colour is a dark grey - I thought I had found it in the Mainline catalogue but their profile in concave and this one according to customer is a dome. I don't think he wants the white inner frame, just the ...

Re: morso blade sharpening

You really need someone one with a proper Morso hollow ground machine. My recommendation would probably have to be Mainline. :D You will have to send them away but you will know that they will come back very sharp.

Anyone recognise this moulding?

Hi

It's plastic/polcore, I've checked the mainline site but can't see anything similar. 40mm wide 30mm deep, there's also a matching fillet/slip.

Any pointers would be great :D

Cheers

Re: Arqadia's Woeful stock control

... OP knows is due to Korean shipping company going bust and nothing coming of the ships, hardly arqadia's fault. It could have just as easily been mainline Ashworth and Thomson, lion or simons.

Re: Blade sharpening

Same for us ^^^^. We send 3 sets at a time as this makes it more economical for the cost of posting. Mainline do all the arranging, you just have to have them ready in a parcel for collection. We've used Mainline for years and have always been very happy with their service. ...

I have resumed using Mainline now for blade sharpening. I am fortunate in that I can drop my blades off and pick them up myself. I thought I would just mention why I stopped using the other (well known) company. I write on my blades ...

Re: Yellow oak

I would look the mainline veneers then they are quite pale and unfinished, they also have the advantage that you can cut them easily on the morso and they pin well.

Re: Yellow oak

Most of the oak I buy from arqadia and Simons tends to quite dark and probably wouldn't stain yellow, however I think Mainline does an unfinished veneer which is quite pale and would take a stain.

Re: Sharpened Morso Blades

I would send them to Mainline and get them properly sharpened on a morso blade sharpener.

If you do get them done locally make sure they are hollow ground.

Re: Mainline All size stretcher Bars

Thanks for the link. :D It looks like they have added the back slot to counteract the twist. Not sure it would cure the prob completely. More ready cut-bits to buy...... IMHO it's a case of over-thinking or re-inventing the wheel. btw. On the Wessex (think Simons do it as well) stuff I cut my own tr...
