Re: Hand finished photo on canvas

Thanks all, I'm going to pack out the frame and also order in some samples with deeper rebates to hopefully avoid/reduce this issue in future.

Whitest conservation mount

Hi all, I'm trying to find the whitest possible conservation mount. I've searched all the LJ, Colourmount & Daler options to no avail. The glacier, arctic and snow whites look creamy, pinky or yellowy against the extremely white picture border I have in for framing. Any suggestions please ? Also...

Re: Hand finished photo on canvas

Thanks for replies. The acrylic hand finishing is just the lightest of touches to give highlights and appears to have adhered well so I don't think it will likely peel. The resultant effect is that of an oil painting which is why I'm leaning towards leaving unglazed. Added to the fact if I glaze it ...

Hand finished photo on canvas

Good morning all,

I have a job in which is a photo on stretched canvas, 400x600, with small amount of acrylic hand finishing. The frame & slip chosen look wrong with glass (plus depth may not allow anyway) but should it really have glass for protection ?

Thanks,

Neil

Re: Fletcher 3100 wanted

Well, today I have to say I've been mightily impressed with customer service from Keencut. After seeing a comment on this thread from Keencut Technical service I contacted them and I was contacted by Andy. He identified my Excalibur 5000 as one of the very early machines which had sadly missed out o...

Re: Fletcher 3100 wanted

Hi Mark, I don't know a lot about them tbh but having read a couple of your reviews on the machine I like the sound of its simplicity & minimal maintenance requirements. I just thought both ebay machines looked quite heavily used and that first one mentioned that bolts were missing & a small...

Re: Borderless print - how to mount

Thanks all. I like the sound of the platform mount but not sure what it gives me as opposed to traditional hinge mount as it still requires a few mm to be under the mount. Or am I not understanding correctly ? I think I'm going to challenge customer & encourage a standard mount otherwise I can f...

Borderless print - how to mount

Hi, I have a limited edition print to mount, 900mm w x 250mm h, which has no borders. Customer does not want the print bonded & requires the full print to display & wants a conventional window mount. What options do I have to attach the print to the undermount & how will this work with a...

Re: Any tips for pinning oak frames

Thanks Mark, Great advice as always. Oak is very popular here too so I do want to master it. I was careful to ensure good alignment on the corners & the outer faces before clamping & then placed a flat piece of wood on the top between frame & top clamp whilst pinning, which seems to have...

Any tips for pinning oak frames

Hi all, I have just prepped an oak frame, 17mm square, approx 900mm x 400mm. I ran a couple of tests on the underpinner with some scrap of the same moulding and the pins tried to follow the grain if I got to close to outer edge. As a result I have just used 1 central pin per corner & everything ...
