Re: Feedback on my website please.

Great stuff, has a really good tone to it. If you were back down in Dorset I'd offer you work. :D To be picky though, as you did ask, the frames are pixelated when they are enlarged. It seems to go against your OCD. I realise it's a stylistic thing, but I would capitalise Edinburgh on that main page...

Re: Premises

I'm in a slightly different situation down here in Dorset but I would be slightly cautious about moving to East London if your main customers are in West London. I really don't know how London works though :? . Some people travel quite a long way to come to me, but the density of people and framers ...

Re: Moulding - Buying finished or bare wood.

At the moment I've got a majority of 'off the shelf' moulding samples, but I'm slowly increasing the number of hand finished ones. It seems a no brainer to me to buy a minimum number of profiles in bare wood in bulk, then hand finish them. You're then offering unique moulding but at a cheaper price....

Thanks for the help folks, Particularly the pdf Steve, very much appreciated again.
I know what machinery I need to save up for next (and who to come to :D ). Until then I'll reserve the spray mount for hair styling only :D

Hi Sully's. :D
I've just been reading about you in the Falmouth Frameworks book. Looks like it was a good exhibition I missed there, still the book is very good.
Welcome.

panel advice

Hello framing folks, As a bit of a noob to framing still, I'm after some fairly general advice to marrying images to panels. Main question is how and what to? I'm imagining it's typically photographs, or reproducible images onto substrates like acrylic or aluminium. The only experience I have of thi...

knots

I just thought I'd say how much I love knots. As in knots in rope not in wood. Or maybe I should say knot in wood.. :Slap:  Although I don't particularly like hanging things with nylon string, it does enable me to get my favourite knots out. I use bowlines for a single strung frame, and a doub...

Re: an underpinner, a deep rebate and museum standards fille

Brilliant stuff, Thanks Mr. Framemaker. :D I (hopefully) have some solutions making their way to me as we speak. Or type, I should say. I don't really want to work with wenge, no, but if the customer really wants it, he shall get it. The wenge, I mean. Nothing violent. Splinters are bearable though,...

Re: 'Wormy' moulding

I know Wessex Pictures do a couple of wormy type mouldings which have an antique sort of look - A109, B1057, B1176.

Another option might be to attack a plain wood moulding with a dremel and hand finish it.

Re: Workshop heating - wood burner?

An efficient woodburner should be great for a workshop. You could also get one with a backburner and rig up some radiators - the heat can go where you want it then. I'm thinking of making a rocket stove and linking it to underfloor heating. Luxury. And incredibly efficient. Lot of reports of firewoo...

an underpinner, a deep rebate and museum standards fillets..

A few questions for the wise folk out there. 1. I have a minigraf 3 underpinner, fairly old, which I bought second hand not too long ago. It came with just a 10mm head, and I'm wanting to get some other sizes. On looking at the different heads it seems that I shouldn't mix black/bare metal heads. Ju...

Re: morso not cutting true

Thanks folks, you're all amazing. Not that I've quite solved the full problem, but I appreciate all those answers. I am now getting square frames thanks to a little jiggery pokery with the left fence, along with repositioning the top blades (which are indeed sharp and hollow ground). I'm still at a ...

morso not cutting true

Hello folks, I'm new to this here forum, and to framing generally. I'm just in the process of starting up in business as a framer in Dorset, but I've been having a little trouble with the morso. It's second hand, and a little dishevelled, but I made the assumption that not much really goes wrong wit...
