backing board

I have something that is about 5ft x 5.5ft to frame working out a quote (map on think paper). Glazing not an issue. what would you use for backing board, I cannot seem to be able to mdf larger that 4 x 8ft?

they can look good with right piece and add more profit to a job, have a few customers that seem to like that look.

Thanks David an interesting read :). So when using japenese hinges on work that will have a mount over it does one still use the t hinge method and with the second part of the hinge is that completely covered with paste and put across. When using cotton rag tape and doing this it has the gummed side...

Of course makes sense if using starch paste then don't apply on bevelled edge, and then no need for release paper and one less item to purchase. Thanks for replying Robo :D

Anyone had some experience of mounting antlers? not strickly a framing job, but one never likes to turn away work. They already have some predrilled holes that I am thinking to use clear cable ties to hold onto a small wooden plinth/board, they do not want the wood that they go onto to be much bigge...

I use quickskip based in Hereford,they provide a wheelie bin and will accept glass, cardboard, mountboard and wood waste. for the size I have its £6 plus vat a collection very reasonable if you ask me. I am sure they cover your location.

Thanks for the link David, defo gonna give that a go, not sure I can on this frame as the dowels ar 6mm and the frame width is 10mm so might be cutting it fine with 2mm in each side...

That's a skinny deep moulding
I know tell me about it, man that corner looks sweet with the dowels :clap: , what lenght would you reccomend? and presume you add the dowels after they have been glued? so are there no wedges at all in that frame at all?

thats really helpful guys thanks. I have been able to stack the wedges successfully on wider frames upto 3 in a stack, but I guess they are not designed to if they have sharpened edges? I tend to use the MW/HW wedges not the HDF wedges are these the ones you mean? I will be using some sort of a sub ...
