Re: Checking an artist's mountboard
Maybe contact the artist and ask for the product details they used for the mount as another customer liked what he/she had done and wanted the same for themselves. Massage the ego, get the info.

Re: Scammers are out again
I got an unsolicited insurance company phone call offering services to recover damages after my 'recent car accident'. The caller got quite excited when I said that I had been in an awful collision with 5 other electric vehicles, all the same make, that the manufacturer had only fitted one working s...

Re: PLT file guidance
I've changed the design taking into account the gap size, so in the future anything in a design approaching the 3mm gap should be carefully considered. The gap between the lines I'm surprised at. In Corel, I used 2 point, Bezier, 3 point and another line option when doing the tracing. After zooming ...

Re: PLT file guidance
Hello Sarah,
Thanks for the comment, I'll do as you suggest. Just to confirm, the bevel in the Coreldraw file is to simulate the finished product but the .PLT file is hairline sized lines to indicate a cut?
The design is (should be) 33cm x 26.6cm.
Mike.

PLT file guidance
Kind any kind sole give my PLT file the once over please. I've attached a jpg of what I expect it to look like but need to know if the file meets the standard for cutting by a CMC and whether a CMC will produce what I'm expecting. I was going to fill in the areas I expect to cut out but decided agai...

Re: Handgun
The sale of imitation firearms is restricted in the UK by the Violent Crimes Reduction Act 2006. Realistic looking replicas can only be sold in the circumstances quoted below: From 1 October 2007, section 36 Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 created an offence to manufacture, bring into or cause to b...

Re: Need some clarity around CMCs.
The Coreldraw video was very useful. I expect I'd be able to get to grips with that pretty quickly, the V Studio though....... :? The results look excellent but I struggled to keep up with the narrators terminology and there was a level of assumed knowledge just above my newbie status. I also couldn...

Re: Need some clarity around CMCs.
Thanks everyone. I'm going to track down some Coreldraw tutorials and see if my Photoshop skills will 'transfer'.

Re: Need some clarity around CMCs.
Thanks Merlin, that's cleared up quite alot. I understand the vector/raster issue now. I appreciate you can only speak from one perspective, but regarding utilising an existing PC, does your software run happily with other programs running at the same time? standard stuff like Word, Excel, email cli...

Need some clarity around CMCs.
Hi all, I've been reading here and other places about the capability of various CMC's. A detail that is touched on but rarely goes into any depth is the computer that controls the cutting machine. What is the usual arrangement in this respect? Does the cutter come with an integrated computer running...

Re: TV as monitor
I've used a 40" Sony and 32" Panasonic TV as monitors at 1920 x 1080 via HDMI during the last 5 years. One issue you may encounter when you first make the connection and fire up the computer is the desktop appearing to be a little oversized for the TV screen despite the screen resolution o...
