Laminated or toughened?
Hi,
I have a customer with a chess board cross-stitch which as well as being framed she wants to be able to still use as a chess board. however the chess pieces are heavy, being made out of old coins.
Question is should I go for laminated glass or toughened?
regards,
Graham

you don't need to be a member to buy the study guide - the idea being if you use the guide to pass the exam and become commercially successful you can then afford to join the guild.

Re: Rose&Hollis "very deep box section"
Used it several times with great success - but beware they only fit one way around for a perfect fit so ensure they match before you cut on the morso. i cut the sides for each box as i go (ie assuming a rectangular box, sides 1&3 of top and bottom mouldings then 2 & 4 the same), create the t...

Re: St Ives Framing Advice
Steve N, I'm with you. Customers like choice, they like modern mouldings and the huge variety that are about and to say that framing a picture with a finished moulding is not proper picture framing is an insult the the vast majority of framers who are in business to make a decent living by producing...

Re: Canvas Stretching
Was the canvas stretched when it was painted? if not could it be that the medium has caused the canvas to twist?
Only time I've had the problem was with a canvas which had very heavy layers of paint in some areas on the canvas which caused it to twist.

Don't file anymore - follow the link that Steve N posted the other day in reply to your query.
Alternatively seek out a Morso handbook where all is explained.

if cutting lots of cuts in one go are you loosing any air pressure and then not driving the blade with sufficient pressure? i have the problem if i forget to up the pressure when cutting 3.5mm boards.

2mm glass comes in big sheets so i would be happy with 2mm.
Wessex do it in 3' x 4' (915mm x 1220mm) so a small cut and you're there.

Re: Do you tape up your package?
I'm with Prospero on this. I use Tessa masking tape, which I find, is reasonably easy to remove should you have to at a later date. Not only does the package mean you can assemble a number of pieces and then put them safely aside to be dropped in their frames at a later date but it also removed the ...
