Re: Another fascinating packaging thread

The cardboard corners from Simons adjust to 3 different depths of moulding so are extremely flexible and a lot cheaper than foam corners and recycleable :-)

removing obsolete items

is there no way to remove outdated items - i.e. an item is now sold so why still have it listed?

Re: Foamboard for fabric framing

i often use 3mm instead of 5mm for that very reason - so many moulding just aren't deep enough. if the piece isn't too big then you shouldn't have a problem.

Re: Pneumatic Morso pulling moulding up out of clamps

Have you tried cleaning the face of the blades? in my experience this only happens when either the blade face has residue on it or the blades are getting blunt.

Re: CMC - basic info please

Hi,

Yes, as far as i'm aware its only the Gunnar and Valiani that can cut angle cuts and straight cuts on 3.5mm board and 5mm straight cuts on foamcore.

Re: CMC - basic info please

Hi, I bought a second hand (refurbished) Gunnar CMC from Gunnar - the main driver being the number of requests i was getting for 3.5mm mount board and although i used to cut it by hand there were expensive errors. My CMC cuts 3.5mm board without errors as well as all the other boards - including foa...

Origin were based in Croydon but closed probably 20 years ago. i believe they were bought out by Wessex so they may be able to help you.

Also, ensure that the point of the blades projects between the two fences.

Re: CMC Size

I bought a refurbished standard size F1 hybrid from Sarah some years ago and never looked back. i bought one because I was getting more and more requests for 3.5mm mounts (often multiple windows) and whilst cutting them by hand was OK it was time consuming and one slip and £12 worth of mount board w...

Didn't know anything about this wood so looked it up and found the following! Sustainability: This wood species is not listed in the CITES Appendices, but is on the IUCN Red List. It is listed as vulnerable due to a population reduction of over 20% in the past three generations, caused by a decline ...

Re: Pricing for larger orders - 50+

I would base any discounted pricing on the reduction in labour costs as a result of a production line approach rather than your labour costs on producing a number of frames based on different materials; ie chopping all the frames then joining all the frames will significantly reduce your normal labo...

For white frames use the white chalk markers that restaurants and pubs use for their menu boards - works a treat.

Re: ok so simons have suggested this underpinner

Hi, I started out with a Cassese from Simons and never looked back. The fact that you can change V nails in seconds and that they are in cartridges is a real bonus and even if you don't think you need to change nails very often now you very soon will i'm willing to bet. they also do a brilliant rang...
