Pearlescent powder
Pearlescent Powder from Handover.
Was thinking of getting me some to mix into paint for a subtle effect on some of the cords of a hand coloured and gilded frame. Any thoughts on the stuff, anyone?

Re: Novice advice needed: hand finishing wooden frames for o
Have any of you wise hands ever tried adding a very subtle touch of pearl essence to the paint in one of the cords? Just wondering....

Nagg, Ebonised is what you see on all those Dutch still lives. That's why I thought it could make the colours stand out. A journey for another day. Compliments to the painter too.

Re: Moulding
Hi Mark, thanks for the thoughts. I shall be building up the frame, which will then give me the rebate. The whole item will come out at about 75 mil in depth which is, I'm thinking, beyond the capability of most timber available to mill.

Re: Moulding
Thanks, Prospero. You have a good eye for shape. Problem I'm having with the available bare woods are they are either too ornate, or too shallow in contour for my purposes.

O Roboframer, I'll take it with or without a rebate --- show me the one in the catalogue, pleeease.

Moulding
I've asked Norfolk Mouldings to quote for this, but if it was available off the peg it would be better. Any knowledge for something very similar? It makes an excellent frame.

Re: Novice advice needed: hand finishing wooden frames for o
Very nice.
I am a newbie too.
See what you mean about the corners --- blasted corners. More layers more sanding.
On a taste issue, I'm not usually mad on white and white slips. But that's personal.
How would it look in ebonised -- quite dramatic probably.
Best wishes.
