Re: Looking to take on extra help
Hi Matt I faced the same problem many years ago. Work load increasing and time available to spend with the children decreasing. :( We decided to do two things firstly, as James suggests, increase prices to increase profitability and lesson the work load. Secondly, take on a part time worker. :) We w...

Re: Broadband Outage
Peter, your correct about all the things done on line. Me, compared to most, I'm IT incompetent yet, not been to a Nationwide branch for at least 10 years. 99% of my shopping done on line including a weekly grocery shop. Takes a few mins' no carrying, no over spending, no fuel costs - I pay for a ye...

Re: Float mounting very large pictures
At last some one with the bottle to suggest mdf to stiffen the sandwich. I always use double stick tape and glue to adhere backing board to 2mm mdf, job done. Yet another golden tip from vintage frames about cutting the slots with a chisel    I don't find pass through...

Just wondering what people think of a "framing by appointment" only system.
Anyone tried or operates this way of working?
I look forward to hearing from anyone with an opinion.

Re: Jury Service
James you are spot on with your analysis of the time scale. You speak as it you have had some experience. If one is self-employed the financial loss would be considerable. Thankfully, that did not apply to me. As you so eloquently put it, the system is "bonkers" with no conce...

Jury Service
Finished a week of Jury Service today. This is the second time I have been asked. The first many years ago when my business was in it's infancy and things were very difficult so, I was excused. :( This time I really wanted to participate. Although, there was a lot of hanging around I found the whole...

Tim and Peter
Thank you both. :
I had come to that conclusion. It's just that somehow, taping in the glass goes against the grain, as I can't think of another way that's what I will do.

Thrips or Thunderbugs
Living in this rural and intensive corn/wheat growing neck of the woods they are an all round aggravation :head: until after the harvest, then they disappear. Framing everyday images using the "sandwich" method solves the problem of them crawling under the glass and entering the package. :...

Re: U.S.A. Picture Framing Magazine - JULY issue
Keith, Thanks for the heads up. I have emailed Maureen and await a reply. A few years ago I would have jumped, with alacrity, at the opportunity to go to Vegas. Have been to Atlantic City a couple of times, not so glitzy but just as easy to loose "loads a money" : :giggle: Even managed to ...

Re: U.S.A. Picture Framing Magazine - JULY issue
Keith, it may be my incompetence  and not the publishers fault that I am unable to subscribe. Thanks for your help anyway. Having a hard copy of the U.S.A. PFM and reading from cover to cover has made me determined to get regular copies. I found the whole publication very interesting and a cou...

Re: U.S.A. Picture Framing Magazine - JULY issue
Thank you Keith Our copy arrived today. Re: Morso Rebate Supports
James, thanks for the explanation I must confess I never new that  even after all these years of frame making. When I had my shop we often did small production runs (couple of hundred or so) and that info' then would have been very useful  With the set up I have now and the individual wo...

Re: Morso Rebate Supports
Good evening Dave
Just checked my rebate supports because the ones you are selling look good I noticed that mine have two nuts and not one. Is there a reason for this difference
BTW I like your web site

Re: Maximum size for glass
Steve N You are not wrong re 2mm float. For the frame size mentioned in Rainbow's OP, and much bigger frames, 2mm glass is suitable. The important thing is the strength of frame and the corners. Like Prospero I stocked much larger sheets when I had my shop. I chucked them about like no tomorr...
