Re: Insurance

We have just renewed our public liability, employers liability and shop insurance and believe me it pays to shop around. We have been using an on-line broker who sent the renewal documents to us informing us that on the due date £xx amount will come out of our bank. :( This was £200 more than we pai...

Re: Wonga dot com

I searched a while ago for a large format scanner as I've been getting a few enquiries. Having looked at some, a few days later I decided to take another look at some other models but couldn't for the life of me remember the site I looked at. Low and behold at the bottom of the page of FF there is t...

Re: whats your favourite feature of your cmc

The blades now last a lot, lot longer than they used to. If the edges on the mount board start to look a bit dodgy then and only then do they get changed.
Having said that we do get quite a lot of mounts from one blade but no idea how many!

Re: whats your favourite feature of your cmc

The amount and time it saves is unreal. What used to take 15 minutes now takes one with no effort at all.
What I don't like is the price of the blades (50 x 90 degree cut blades £100)

Re: Dust etc

I bought a fine anti-static brush from Lion £30 which works a treat by sweeping the glass just before assembly.
Broke my heart though when I saw the same but bigger brush on fleabay delivered from China for £6.00

Re: Mounting a Seahorse

Sorry, didn't get chance to post any pics but said seahorse is now on the wall of a very happy owner. In the end I used invisible thread lassoed around the neck and another bit around the girth, this was threaded through the mount board and taped at the back as I didn't want to risk tightening the c...

Re: Mounting a Seahorse

Thanks for the replies everyone, I will post a picture tomorrow when I get into work. It only weighs a few grams and to make matters worse there is a kink between the body and the tail which looks very, very delicate. On the plus side the client works in a restaurant across the road from me and is v...

Re: Mounting a Seahorse

Yes it's a real one, is about two inches high, has been dried and looks extremely brittle and to be honest frightens me to death to hold. I thought wrapping cotton around it's neck and fixing it to the mount board might be the best way and have just ordered some nylon clear invisible sewing thread f...

Re: Morso F for sale, Bargain Price

The second hand market is really dropping in everything, not just framing equipment. We bought our Morso in immaculate condition with a spare set of blades, an Alpha A1 underpinner also immaculate and a Keencut Ultimat Gold 48" mount cutter for £1000. Had to travel 180 miles to collect them but...

Re: Optimising photos for the web

One of the best ever image editors/resizer/optimizers available is Faststone Image Viewer. It is capable of basic editing, batch resizing, slideshows etc. etc. and like many others it is also FREE. They do ask for a donation and to be honest worth £10 of anyone's money for its usefulness. If you don...

Framing a Jigsaw

Customer brought in a large 4ft x 4ft jigsaw and asked us if we could frame it.

Never done one before and not sure how to go about doing it. We have a jetmounter but only the JM26 which is too small anyway!

Any help appreciated.

Re: Setting up a Facebook page anyone ?

Quite easy to set up a small business page on FB. Just register and away you go. Before you can do anything with it you need so many "likes" so you will have to get friends and family and anyone else you know on FB to go to your page and click the like button. FB have introduced new guidel...

Had an hour spare today to try and solve the problem with it......................actually took less than 10 minutes to get the side off, find a chain and cog floating around inside, join it all back together again and it's now up and running perfect.

We are quite new to the world of CMC's having obtained a Wizard 8500e from Framers Corner. Re: Suggestions for framing a cake topper

I think that some of the cakes she wants to put in are made from foam so no danger of them disintergrating.
I will need to find out exactly what she wants but would like to get on board with her as she is very pro-active and really pushes her produts so if she does well we do well!
