Re: Mahoosive sheets of paper

Since your customer has asked for a relatively inexpensive (I don't like using the word 'cheap' - ever) method of displaying these, could you suggest photographing them, then reprinting on something a bit more substantial, like canvas? Those would print up fairly easily on a 60" printer, and th...

Re: DPI/Resolution/Dimensions query

Mr Pedant here, but most A5 papers and cards will be 210 x 148.5mm, not 210 x 148 (since they'll be made by cuttting a sheet of A4 in half) so your image will be 5 pixels/dots too small in the smaller dimension.......

Re: Laminating Canvas

At the Wessex open day last week, Steve Goodall showed me a way to laminate canvas using the hotpress. Never having owned a hotpress before, I was pleasantly surprised at the results.

Anyone got a second hand HGP360 going cheap?

Re: Urgent solution Nedded

My GUESS would be that the temperature in your workshop might be too high, the roller pressure insufficient, or that the substrate you're using (double sided laminate) isn't neccessarily the correct laminate for attaching paper to aluminium. There's a chap on the boards called Steve Goodall who's a ...

Did you hand mount them, or use a roller mounter such as a JetMounter?

Re: Framing a Jigsaw

I built a surround for the actual jigsaw out of foamboard, then placed a thin non-reflective acrylic sheet over both (to keep the bits in place) put a mountboard over that, finished with paperwhite glass. It's been hanging in my living room for a number of years now! I fixed the back with turnscrews...

Re: Retail Space

Well - I have 300 sq ft here in my home office/workshop/gallery (two rooms), of which one room (4m x 3m) 30% is storage, and the worktable/morso/underpinner/desk/printers/monitors and plan chest in the the other, which measures 4m x 4m approx. If I was to move to a retail outlet I'd want a MINIMUM o...

Can I ask who supplies those plain fillets, and are they available in varying sizes? I have a need for something similar right now! Cheers Tim p.s. NVM - found something at Lion that'll do.......wish there was a facility to delete posts here - or rather that if there is, I wish I knew how to use it!...

'Budget' moulding rack

Since I'm fed up having to walk the length of the garden to retrieve moulding from the 'big' shed to the 'small' workshop, I caved in and decided to install some horizontal moulding racks in the small workshop for my most used mouldings......there's not enough ceiling height to store vertically, see...

Re: Papercut inbetween two glass

As per Prospero's remarks, as a kid I remember having a 'toy' called Plasticraft. It did the same thing - encased stuff in resin, and came with coloured dyes and stuff. I still have a pair of cufflinks I made around 40 years ago out of old silver threepenny bits.......why can't kids have toys like t...

Re: Yet another moulding ID test for you all!

Hi Daisy - I can't find H29 on the HOlroyd website - do you have a link to the profile? The Lion one is too 'Flat' at 33mm if you see what I mean.....and too wide at 90mm. It may have to do at a pinch though.
