Signing prints.

I sell my landscape photography as titled and signed prints and I’ve just printed up a new set and was thinking about including a date next to my signature, say just the year. My question is do you put the date the photo was taken or the date the print was made? Any thoughts :)

Re: Pencil drawing mountboard spec

Hi Bagel Framer. Why do you want to use standard board instead of conservation? When you say standard board do you mean white core or the nasty virgin wood pulp stuff? If you don’t stock conservation board then perhaps I can understand the hassle in ordering something in for just for one job, but a ...

Re: Minuet madness!

Looking more closely at the windows I cut over the weekend I can see there is a very subtle difference in the colour between the face and backing paper, but you have to be wide awake to spot it. The texture appears to be the same on both sides. I will just have to remember to mark the back in pencil...

Minuet madness!

I've been cutting Arqadia Minuet 8627 conservation board all day and keep tying to remember to mark the board with my lovely 3H pencil after I cut away Ardadia’s printed info so as to be able to identify the front/back of the board as the face paper is identical to the back but I keep forgetting but...

Re: 'D' ring position

That's interesting about weighted bottom borders and picture rails. I agree that four even borders just doesn’t look right making the image appear to be too low in the frame, even if viewed straight on never mind hanging above eye level. I always weight the bottom border on my jobs but it would make...

Framing for a temporary exhibition.

Framing for a temporary exhibition. What’s the best method for securing the back of a frame for temporary exhibition only? The art will be mounted to undermount and hinged to the window mount and the artist wants to use the frames again for other exhibitions etc., so they want to be able to open the...

I use double and single fisherman's knots and like to tidy the loose ends by melting them on a candle flame. :D

Re: Hand finishing

I like to use ash and oak with simple finishes using Liberon lime or patinating wax, both giving a dramatic change to the wood. Also Liberon Black Bison paste waxes such as tudor oak give nice results without too much effort  See these posts: http://theframersforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t...

Re: Wanted: mitre trimmer

Hi Kirsty,

Given a choice between the sander and trimmer I would go for the trimmer.

http://www.framerscorner.co.uk/ sell the mitre trimmer. You should talk to Sam Cook who posts on this forum.

Another simple finish.

Apologies for showing just a simple finish, I know it's good to see how complex finishes are done by folk such as Framemaker and Prospero, but I wanted to show anyone who has not yet tried working with barewood how satisfying and enjoyable it is. And, as we head into winter, there is no better way o...

Re: Gummed tape and Tru Vue glass.

I've started using the P90 tape and find it a better quality tape that the pH7-70  I was wondering what folks do to create a sealed glass package when working with spacers in the rebate for framing float mounted art? Does the spacer glued to the rebate create a sufficient enough seal against t...
