Re: Creative Suggestions

Thanks for all the imput I have discussed options further with the client, she had a look at the suggestions posted above. She likes the idea of a black classically styled moulding with a dark matt. Not sure if our numbering system in Australia is the same as in the UK but thinking of going with Meg...

Creative Suggestions

One of my clients dropped in a limited edition image on watercolour art paper to get framed, the artist work is superb. Trouble is she has left me to frame it how I would like without any direction. She did link me to the artist Facebook page where other clients who have recently purchased the same ...

When to switch to acrylic

Happy Easter to everyone.

When framing photographic prints at what size, do you suggest to switch from glass to acrylic for your frames, for weight and safety purposes? Currently I'm looking at a matted size of 30x40 inches.

Thanks for the help.

Re: How much do you spend on advertising?

When we moved into framing a few months ago, I posted a photo of some of our ready to go frames on our photo lab Facebook page and paid for it to be "pushed", supposedly it reached 8000 people in the local area. The total cost was $30. Can't say it was a dramatic result, however a number o...

Re: Setting up a Facebook page anyone ?

Facebook is only as good as the content you supply, having a photo lab provides excellent content. We are constantly scanning old slides and prints and often a really unusual picture crops up (anything from the 60's and 70's is interesting today) and with the customs permission I post these with a s...

Re: Double Page Advertisments

I would scan the pages, join the halves in Photoshop, and print out the new file for framing. If your Photoshop skills are not up to the task, there are several companies in India and China who will do the work for you for a fraction of what you would pay locally.

Re: Any one recognise this model of underpinner?

Yes did a search myself with few results, which speaks for itself. I usually like to read a few reviews before making a decision of this type.

Re: Mountboard Cutter for amateur

Back in the 80's when I was a photographer all I used was a hand held cutter and steel ruler and got by just fine. Like you I only had to do a few jobs a week. All it takes is a steady hand and a large flat surface to work on.

Time to introduce myself

Greetings everyone, I have been lurking on this forum for a couple of weeks now and thought it was about time I introduced myself. My name is David Barnes and I run a photofinishing business, Pro-Am, in Newcastle Australia. The business itself has been around for about 30 years, though I bought it f...
