Cut to size MDF hardboard with hangers - Supplier Needed
I originally put up a recent listing asking for a backing board supplier in a previous post but think the replies were more for backing board for mounts. I actually meant MDF Hardboard (3mm/4mm) for the back of my box frames, but because of my limited knowledge of framing didn't explain myself corre...

Re: finding backboard supplier
What sort of hanger/hook would work best on the box frame of approx size 8" x 6". I've got a black frame but can't find anything suitable that would match this colour and allow the frame to sit flush on a wall...I'm really unsure of what would work best and doesn't take to long to attach t...

Re: finding backboard supplier
The box frame looks great. How is the hanger attached on the back...is it nailed, or screwed in? I'm quite unsure what is the best hook/hanger to use on a box frame, since I want the frame sitting itequ flush to the wall.

Re: finding backboard supplier
Thanks for all the help everyone. When I say slightly irregular size, it's not an exact 6" x 4", it's about 8mm over on all sides. I'm making 3D style box frames and was stapling the board to the back of frame so need the board to be slightly bigger than the aperture on the back if that ma...

finding backboard supplier
I've got some bespoke frames that need a slightly irregular backboard. I don't know where to purchase decent backboard for frames, and would obviously need to cut it to size. Is there anywhere that sells sheets of this...I need reasonably sturdy board, as I'm considering cutting it myself. I've look...

box frames or similar
I'm looking for a trade suppplier of A4 and 6" x 4" box frames or similar. I wanted to insert my own A4 bespoke mounts, but not sure if you can insert mounts into a box frame if they are the same size as the frame. I had these made ages ago, but realised I wanted to use a box frame instead...

nail or tab guns for very small frames
I'm looking for the best budget nail or permenant tab gun for very small frames...size 3.5" x 3.5" & 4" x 4"? I'm not looking to replace pictures in frame so tabs or nails are a permenant fixture. Ideally I'd prefer to use a nailer but can't find a device that fits into some ...

adhesive bonding film for wood and fabric
Hi guys, I seem to only come on here at the moment with questions but always greatful for the responses as I'm a bit of a newbie to all of this. I'm looking for a permenant bonding film in order to apply directly onto a frame mount which I then want to overlay with fabric. However, I also have anoth...

creating a 3D cut out within a print
I have an few idea with regards to a 3D design i'm trying to create from a picture in a frame. I have a person/figure that has been created out of strong card, that replicates the person in the original main background print. I wanted to overlay the cut out card figure onto the original background f...

Re: Window poster
When I used to do vinyl printing and large format printing for nightclubs, we used to use corex board...seems to be the cheapest board going, and most sturdy easily allowing for holes to be placed. For short term usage we used cheap spray adhesive and I still have some old poster boards in my garage...

Re: hard board - how to mount fabric onto it?
with regards to the fabric I'm using, it's a felt material, so not sure if glue would be totally ideal for this. But if there is thicker hard board (the lighter the better) available than 3-4mm then I'd very much like to know as I'm sure stapling would be the quickest solution. Otherwise it will hav...

hard board - how to mount fabric onto it?
Where is cheapest place to get A3 hardboard approx 4mm-5mm thick? I require stapling some fabric over the entire A3 hardboard backing and folding fabric at edges and stapling corners over the hardboard...however, I'm having problems finding suitable heavy duty staples that are the correct thickness ...

making a proffesional job with staples...
I've got a cotton canvas print that i have stapled onto a backing mount board to be placed within a frame...the stapling part is fine and I'm using the best staples (size wise) for the job, but I have to hammer the staple from the back of the board to flatten out otherwise they would be just sharp e...

long term black 10mm foam board
I'm looking for good quality durable black foam board (10-13mm thick) that will last. Not short term or mid term, but ideally a long term tough board...and was wondering if anyone could point me in a direction of a UK supplier. Can foam board be stuck to the back of a standard mount, or would it rui...

Re: Floating frames
The spacer is concealed, it doesn't matter what it's made from as long as it serves its purpose. Seems like you're making work for yourself - foam board is cheap and cuts with a craft knife. I probabaly am, but I'm a perfectionist so try and get looking as best I can. I'm probably more worried sinc...

Framing tool for application of nails and tabs
I saw a recent demo on youtube for the Logan F400-01, which allows for both rigid nails and tab inserts to inner frame...it offers 4 different applications, including rigid tabs, flexi tabs, rigid nails and one further inserstion. All this can be done by rotating the head, but it looked slightly slo...

Re: Floating frames
Looking at that diagram you could do away with the frame points, bond the window mount, spacer and back mountboard together, drop the assembly in to the frame, plus the backing board, and secure with flexible points. many thanks to everyone thats replied. I like this answer with regards to using sp...

Floating frames
Hi everyone...this is my first post. I'm pretty new to framing (which you will understand from my wording in this topic), but wanted to ask a few questions and hoped for some advice. I'm making something similar to a floating frame...the frame in question incorporates styrene, set in a deep 2.5cm fr...
