Re: Valiani New Interchangeable Head

I would be surprised if there was a blotting problems because rather than use inks with a leafed pen the promotional poster indicates that the head makes use of felt tip pens and also pencils

Re: Valiani New Interchangeable Head

John

I have one of the first CMCs with the interchangeable head that was brought into the UK and I have been told that the new head will fit my machine.

Valiani New Interchangeable Head

I have it on good authority that Valiani are to introduce a new head at thei year's Spring Fair. The head is called the MatStylus. I have seen the promotion leaflet from which I have copied the following: Once again Valiani leads the way with our newest exclusive innovation, the MatStylus Interchang...

Re: Artwork hinged to front mountboard

ECO board is certainly quite heavy and because of this sometimes causes a problem with the packaging, I also believe that it comes in different thicknesses but Arqadia only market the one available(1.3mm.) Initially I was sceptical about using Eco board but during a visit to Arqadia/Conservation by ...

Re: Artwork hinged to front mountboard

But you have to buy 50 sheets - so what? It's half the price - so I ordered it ......... it's GREEN!. John - My thoughts exactly when I first bought a pack but I use it most of the time - I only use it for artwork that is to be framed as you can't see that its green once in the frame. I was told it...

Re: Artwork hinged to front mountboard

An interesting discussion; I have always hinged artwork to the undermount as this was the way I was taught. This was re-inforced when I went on workshop with a conservator (paid for during re-settlement) and for much of the reasons mentioned by Jfieg but also it reduces the possibilty of the artwork...

Re: Newbie standard/conservation mounting question

As Kev states go for conservation quality materials. Conservation mount board can be purchased at a similar price to normal white core or standard board from several suppliers. There are a couple of issues you should consider: first, the mount board should have passed the Photographic activity test ...

Re: help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the Forum. I started in the same way, setting myself several goals to acheive and when I did so then moved onto the next. Remember, if you are starting a business you should inform HMC&E within, I think, three months if you don't and they decide to get awkward they can slap a £100 fin...

Re: Spring Fair - Good or Bad??

I visit the Spring Fair each year as I believe it is essential to keep abreast of new and innovative ideas that might be on display it is not always the case but one cannot afford to miss out. The seminars were a welcome addition and hope that they will continue in future years; the organisers obvio...

I use Everest paints developed by Pete Bingham. Good range of colours that can be diluted with water, easily mixed together and to apply, finishes off well with waxing, brushes are cleaned using water hence no COSH issues. Good all round paint that produces very good results.

Re the shell, the first question is how are you going to support it? Two possible solutions; first, use EVACON a reversable conservation adhesive and glue the shell to a piece of mountboard but then removal at a later stage could be time consuming; second, use craft wire or coloured threads to faste...

I find that the method used to support embroidery depends very much on the type whether it be applique, cross stitch, needlepoint, silks etc. The four most common methods of support that I use are: lacing, pins and foamboard, tight fit - especially good for silks, and light or heavy tack. When lacin...

Valiani Blades

I have had a Valiani CMC for over a year and would only use the Valiani blades, my advice is don't go with the ECO blades.
