Cassese CS1 Cart underpinner for sale
I am selling my Cassese CS1 Cart foot operated underpinner. It has been a really reliable machine and has had fairly light use since I bought it from Wessex new in 2014. The only reason I am parting with it is because I have upgraded to a pneumatic machine and need the space in the workshop. New foo...

Re: Picture hooks
Rainbow - I would be careful with these - it's not so much that the hook snaps, but unless the wall is of the right density these will not penetrate properly and will fail. I have several customers who've tried these and come unstuck. I'm sure it's not due to the inherent quality of the hook, but a ...

Re: Koto mouldings
Hi Mark - I've used the Wessex Koto mouldings quite a few times and always found they cut and joined really well. I started using them as I found they joined well on a foot operated underpinner and took stains and waxes well. Definitely worth a go. I'm sure they'll send you some samples to try. Good...

Re: Help with finding this mount
Matt - As Prospero rightly says, the tricky part may be finding the paper. Although you can get printed paper, the problem with marbling paper is that it's generally all hand made and each sheet is a one-off. A fantastic source for marbling paper not far from you would be Jemma Lewis in Melksham in ...

Hi -
Think you'll find it's C2810 or C2005 (depending on width) from Wessex. Page 279 if you have one of their catalogues. Otherwise all online.
Good luck

Keith - Try CC paste from Lion (9846). I've tried just about everything but this works really well. It fills well and wipes off any surface with a damp cloth leaving no residue. I resisted trying it for ages, mainly due to the price, but it comes in a big tube and seems to last for ages. I'm still o...

Hi Rainbow
I would give David Palmer a call at Wessex Leatherhead. I went to a FATG talk given by him yesterday and he was discussing a wide range of products at a range of costs. His knowledge is huge and I am sure he will be able to give you good advice.
Good luck

Wessex do a good one - imaginatively coded 'Roller 1' in their catalogue. Very sturdy and lasting well so far!

Hi Tom - My CS1 is standing 940mm from floor to working table. This is with the adjustable feet extended to their maximum. You would be able to lower the whole thing by about 10mm if you wound the feet right in. I also stand the machine on a 50mm homemade plinth as I am 6'3 tall. I find the extra he...

I've just noticed from a message from Wessex that the Oldham branch has a new manager- Lauren Worsley. It may be that this would be a good opportunity to build a relationship with someone who might be seen as a 'new broom' - just a thought.
Good luck

Jon - I've done quite a few outside events and use two way gridwall display stands from a company in Wimborne in Dorset - you can order direct from their website www.shopfittingwarehouse.co.uk. They do a really solid stand which is 1890mm tall and will take a number of framed pictures with ease. Cod...

Re: Starting out recommendations?
Hi Andy - Before starting my business I completed the week long framing course at Wessex Pictures in Leatherhead and found it an excellent introduction to the trade. I had some previous experience and to a certain extent used it as a refresher but the others were just starting out. The pace is ideal...

Hi Sarah -
Lion L2023 (p179) might work - it has a 42mm rebate but with a suitable 5mm spacer behind the canvas could be okay. I've used it before and it cuts and joins well.
Good luck

Mark -
If it's any help I've got the same space problems and have always used the roller stand as suggested by Kuduframes - great bit of kit, very robust and does a good job. Also has the advantage of bring easily folded and put away. Mine is from Wessex but they look much the same.

Peter - This is not an expert opinion, but I've not seen anything that suggests that you need to get rid of anything that you need to keep for a legitimate business reason. The new regulations mean that you only have to delete records that you have no good reason for keeping. I have no intention of ...

Re: GPDR
My local Chamber of Commerce has run a few sessions on GDPR and the subject seems a little confusing. I think there are two issues here. One is whether as a business you need to be registered with the ICO, and having done the questionnaire helpfully posted by Chris, I'm happy that I don't need to re...
