Re: Glass cutting help needed

I use the SILBERSCHNITT oil filled cutter, clean breaks almost* every time, even on a full length cut on 48" x 36" 2mm and 3mm stock. I do make sure that the glass is right at the end of the bench before adding pressure for it to snap. ** Not 100% every time I must admit and usually it's t...

Re: Printing and framers

We run a photo studio and printing service and now have ventured into the framing side too.

Now anyone who has a portrait photographed ends up with one of our frames too.
We too also have the Epson V750 Pro scanner which gets a lot of work and most of the jobs end up in one of our frames.

Re: plastic mouldings

How are you cutting them? I find polcore cuts very well on the morso.
I am using a Morso but was attempting to cut a piece in one go in the beginning, now I take my time and all is well.

Re: plastic mouldings

You have to make a lot of polcore frames to make a living... Framing is a new venture at our photography studio which so far has been quite good tying the framing in with printing has proved to be quite popular. It's a massive learning curve and we only take on jobs that we are comfortable with aft...

The right click install only works on windows.

Alpha A1 Underpinner

Looking for extension arms for the Alpha Underpinner if such things exist.
Quite new to framing and find it a bit of a feat to hold a 42inch and a 30inch piece of moulding at the same time while trying to join them together.

Framing Papyrus

I have been asked to frame to paintings on Papyrus which I have never done.
Both paintings are 3ft x2ft and need a mount as the edges are as you can imagine jaggy.

Any tips greatly appreciated as to go about this.

Thanks

Re: Alpha Underpinner

The problem was the moulding clamp which I have now replaced with a new one from Lion.
The old shaft on the clamp was pitted to hell and wasn't travelling as far down as I thought.

Thanks for input everyone.

Alpha Underpinner

I have an Alpha foot operated underpinner that is doing my top in. :head: Every time I try to join a frame it seperates the mitre rather than joining it together? I amat a loss as to the problem. I pull the back stop up tight, the front bit is in tight and the clamp is as tight as I can get it but s...

Re: Hello from Durham City

Thanks for the welcome messages, and Keith I intend to learn from the bottom up. I do realise that being let loose with someones treasured posession is a no-no until I know what I am doing with it. I have looked with interest at various bad framing practices etc but still need to learn to differenci...

Hello from Durham City

Hi to everyone.

I own (with my wife) a photography studio in the centre of Durham and we have now decided to offer framing too.
Look forward to picking lots of brains on the forum.
