Re: Not a lot of people know that!

Just a note of caution  Lifting the head up manually may cause the pedal cable to come off the pulleys below, so I would not advise this method. Bear in mind Cassese have made a modifications to the top bar and presser to over this problem. Act carefully and stay safe MITREMAN 8) Ooops, Egg ...

Hi Guy,

Thanks for your advice. Do your supply mouldings directly to framers and do you have a catalogue or website, where those who are interested can see your range?

Thanks.

So now there will be a niche in the market for special hanging systems for such frames and special wall hooks made to fit into the corner of the wall.

I waiting to see who's first on the forum to demo a picture of one of these complete with double mount and bevel accents.

Heres one: (I dont know why it happens but its taken me years to notice it) how come styrene seems to have morestatic when you peel of the platic when its cold than when its warm? Electron mobility improves at higher temperatures, which enables the charge to disipate faster. It's why electronic val...

Hi Alan, As you say the two sides of float glass are not the same. There are electro-optical instruments produced to help glass trade professionals tell which is the tin side. It seems that many glass bonding products don't work quite as well on the tin side. For those who may wonder what this is al...

I only have a very small shop and workshop area, so 8 ft by 4 ft sheets are not something I can cope with, but the idea is nice just the same. Incidentally I liked the pasta moulding you used, it's areal shame that such mouldings are no longer available. Simons still have their Victorian range and t...

Not a lot of people know that!

Quite a few manual underpinners can be persuaded to join thicker mouldings by manually pulling the overhead clamp up by hand. My Cassesse CS79 will lift up another inch or so! All that happens is the pedal comes up a bit higher too. No doubt Cassesse would argue that it's not designed to be used lik...

I don't have the facilities to cut up boards like that, but if it could be bought accurately machined into strips I no doubt would consider it, having seen a picture posted of one of your frames made with it. As you say, it did look very classy! It also would fit my critera for something which could...

Another trick which works well, is to use an ordinary flat piece of wood from your local timber supplier for the centre panel and cut the inner moulding so that the rebate is on the outside and glue it ito the inside of the centre panel. The sight edge is now on top of the centre panel and the norma...

That's a fairly normal situation with many similar profiles. I get around it by lining up the outer of the moulding and a liitle bit of filling / touching up of the sight edge. Cotton buds are often useful. It usually works out just fine. Try practicing with your off-cuts. It's much easier than you ...

If you could use 20ft of 583 841 000, I got it in stock. Got it in a 10 quid bargain bundle. Hi Prospero, That's for the kind offer, but I'm getting quite a bit of these moulding as a kind of long term plan, so I shall soon be well covered. I'm intending to have multiple uses for each of these moul...

Hi Prospero, I don't know if like me you like to keep old moulding catalogues, but if you do and have any old Simons catalogues, then look up one of the following mouldings.:- 583 770 266 or 583 841 000 These beautiful and very expensive mouldings are sadly no longer available. These are the shape I...

Have you had a price for having the cutters made or are you goinng for square edged mouldings? That hasn't arisen yet, one is an existing moulding with extra added to the base, the other has square edges. However, I am planning on doing some mouldings which will need cutters made. My intention is t...

Hi Avantime,

That's one of the questions I asked. It seems I should have asked a bit more, but thanks to your reply, I shall be asking the question a little differently next time and hopefully getting even more moulding for my money.

Custom made to order mouldings

I'm starting to get into ordering some made to order mouldings. Things got started as a result of the earlier thread about the limited choices in oak mouldings. During this earlier and following advice given by Paul & Ian, (thanks guys), I been following some of this up and as a result I have al...

Thanks Alan, That's exactly the info I need. Also I've prepared a drawing of the required moulding in tulipwood and emailed for quotation, so things should soon be happening. It's even got a rebate in the back so I can recess the D-rings to hang flush on the wall. It's taken a lot of working out, th...

Hi KK,

Sorry for getting you worried, but I did ask if anyone can come back with with some further information on this, as I don't know if this is an issue to be concerned about or not.

Perhaps John (Roboframer) or Jerry can enlighten us please.
