Re: Pricing multi-window mounts on a CMC with software.

This is interesting - pricing multiple apertures is a grey area for us in some sense. Most of the stuff we do would only be a few so adding on a few £'s is fine and acceptable but if we had a 27 aperture job and asked £250 for the mount alone I reckon the person would just walk out the door. Don't g...

Re: hand mount cutter advice

If it's at the start of the cut it might be a hooking issue? Are you sure your blade depth is set correctly? Do you have any photos of the cuts?

Re: Framing Medals

Indeed, the forum needs a reboot & this sort of post (not mine but the subject) is what we need - some real work stuff again. Framing medals that are removable have been a real bugbear of mine. It's not an idea solution but what I usually do is glue mountboard to some MDF and then screw some sma...

Re: Morso/Underpinner angles

How many blades do you have? I've been framing 10 years and I'm still using the two sets of second hand blades I got with the Morso. At the moment I've got three sets. Any blades that I don't like I get them sharpened and sell on eBay. They usually don't make that much though but it still helps wit...

Re: Morso/Underpinner angles

In my experience anytime I've ever had an issue with cuts/joins and I know that my underpinner & morso are set correctly it's always been the blades. If I have a set of blades that aren't right I just buy a new set, it might sound excessive but it's not worth all the wasted time fiddling about.

Re: sizing issue

It's an easy mistake to make - I'm saying that from experience. I never make anything for anyone now if I don't measure it myself. Even if the customer is reading their 'measuring instrument' correctly it might not tally with the measurements here in the shop. We cut mounts for a photo shop local to...

Re: Morso Adjustment of Height

Hi, yes it's possible. If you look behind your Morso you'll see a long threaded bar, near the bottom you'll see two nuts that determine the height, you can make the adjustments by moving the position of those. (if that makes sense)

88mm will be pretty tight though :)

Re: Adhesive Roll

Actually, I've had a look at that product (PMDS25082), apparently it works with MDF which sounds great. Does anyone know I could use it for mounting the cheap holiday oil paintings onto MDF. I've never had any luck with self adhesive methods regarding canvas on MDF. We usually use PVA but it takes t...

Re: Pricing on mounts etc

Hi Jonathan, thanks for the reply. I totally agree, I'm not after that low paying type of work, I just thought it would be a nice little earner for little real work :) But I really don't know the online seller can make it work at those margins. Amazon need their little cut from it too, I understand ...

The importance of spacing

If it were me I'd have chosen a different font or increased the spacing slightly on CLINT :) When I first seen it I had to do a double take, people may not like his movies but I thought calling him names was a bit harsh.

Pricing on mounts etc

Hi guys We've got a few people around us that produce little prints etc to sell at craft fairs and the like. They buy their mounts, backing and little clear bag online - mostly from Amazon. I'd like to sell to them as it's a fairly straightforward job and there's a reasonable customer base for these...
