Do you recognise this?

It is a tool that my wife was given with a whole load of craft equipment, but we can't work out it's purpose. It is about 4 - 5 inches long, and looks like something should run around the two wheels, both of which have a fixed cover. If anyone can tell me what it is I will be very glad!

Re: Glass question

This is the first time that I have heard of commercial waste for small business - and I'll get one set up. Thanks for all the comments, it's been an entertaining read :D

Re: Glass question

I broke the glass into smallish pieces, put them in a cardboard box that was lined with newspaper and took it to the tip. "Where do I put glass?" I asked the chap sitting by the gate. "General waste" came back the reply - no enquiries as to amount, whether it was home or business...

Re: Glass question

I didn't mention that I'm working from home, but I don't think it would be a popular move to put the waste glass into the household rubbish

Glass question

Hello all, I knew that I'd have questions again! I've been working quietly at framing for a few months now, not getting busy yet but learning learning learning. In this time I have cut some glass, offcuts going into a bin. What do you all do with your waste glass? My bin is getting fuller and before...

Re: You are lucky !

I am lucky - I have started in a new profession that I enjoy very much, this forum has answered all the questions I've asked so far (and I'm sure I'll be asking more when I get busy), I don't have to commute for 3 hours a day any more, I can have the music as loud as I like, I can pick my own hours,...

Re: M3 Foot operated ( manual ) underpinner

I've not used a lot of Artcore or Minerva, but have had nor problems when I have. There is no adjustment for corners that are not 90 degrees, but I try to cut mine accurately

Re: M3 Foot operated ( manual ) underpinner

I use an M3 at the moment, and it works fine as long as the extended table sides are flat, it is regularly cleaned and you keep to relatively soft wood mouldings. However it's not good with hard woods, I've had trouble with oak mouldings, they tend to come apart at the bottom of the join, not really...

Re: advice for a newbie about long photos

After a couple of email exchanges with the customer he tells me that he's been mounting his compitition photos for years using Photo Mount Spray Adhesive with every success - I saw a couple of them recently and noticed how odd (bad?) they looked with the window larger than the print. He has suggeste...

Re: advice for a newbie about long photos

Hi Nigel, thanks for that - you've reassured me that I am not expecting to much to want to frame how I consider "properly" - by using hinges and covering a little of the paper with the mountboard. I'll try them with the double matt, otherwise I'm going to be left trying to dry mount the im...

Re: advice for a newbie about long photos

Thanks for the advice Prospero, good to get an experienced view. Normally I've been hinging pictures, but only with an overlapping window so I can use a T - but this wouldn't be possible in this case. The prints are landscapes which the customer has had printed by a friend who has access to a large ...

advice for a newbie about long photos

Hello all, I've recently set up and I am working out of my garage and things seem to be going well at the moment. However I've just be asked to quote on framing 2 pictures, each needing a frame of 4 foot by 1 foot, which isn't a problem, but the customer is asking for the window to be larger than th...
