Re: Gloss white frame
Thank you Mark for the detail and yes I am aware the great lengths required to get a high gloss finish. Im just not set up to be able to achieve that or indeed have the time. Jo, thank you for the pointers I will take a look and thanks for the recommendations for the slips too! I had thought of meta...

Gloss white frame
Hi all, happy Friday! I haven't delved into much pre-finished mouldings and I have a job in at the moment for a large A0 print that is quite bold and predominately red and i am thinking of going high gloss white and quite chunky. I don't fancy making this one up from bare wood. Can I get your though...

Re: Keencut Futura Overcuts
Ah I see, sorry makes sense now. That is odd, I can only offer a similar experience where the bottom stop on my machine seemed to not move when I was making adjustments. I cleaned the track out - not particularly dirty but just in case - and gave the measure plate on the stop (the scale that moves) ...

Re: Keencut Futura Overcuts
I have just looked at my machine and still not totally clear, maybe post a picture. The only adjustments that I am aware of are as per the manual / mentored. Maybe someone else can jump in here.

Re: Keencut Futura Overcuts
Hi, Not sure I fully follow... Have a look at the manual for adjusting for over / undercuts. Also make sure your blade depth is correct it needs to be as shallow as possible just scratching your slip sheet. Worth spending some time with some off-cuts and some new blades and different blade types. I ...

Re: Fabric art on self adhesive board
Thanks Rainbow - yes agree. No there is no vale other than sentimental and was bought in India while on holiday so ... yes very expensive :D Ok I have moved away from sticking it down. With permission from the client I have used a mix of techniques, Newbury method but also pinned the material in pla...

Re: Fabric art on self adhesive board
Thanks Mark, this is my view and understanding of self adhesive boards and part of the reason I have no experience of them. Thank you for the background. Prospero, yep hit the nail on the head. Did my description paint an all too familiar picture. The paints used have also stated to flake off (clien...

Fabric art on self adhesive board
Hi all, I have a client who has brought in some artwork on a 420 x 420mm piece of black polyester. The material itself has no hemmed edge and is quite frayed. Added to this is has a rather narrow margin / excess edge of approx 12 mm. I had planned to mount using Newbury method but the lack of workab...

Ah thats a good idea to pin to the foam board Justin. I had thought about using the tag gun in a similar method.

Re: Original posters
My one man post continues - I thought it a good idea to update this thread, this forum has been so good to me and maybe this aides someone else in the future ... I had the poster lined backed to take the fold lines out. I know that this is a separate debate on this practice but for me, in this insta...

Re: De-roller experiences
Thanks Mark, Richard for the input. Great tips / warnings Richard regarding the papers. I am a photographer (now on the side) and had a mishap handling a Hahnemühle Photorag print, thankfully one of my own. This is, however, exactly why I am wary of trying to relax / uncurl rolled art work. I seem t...

Re: De-roller experiences
Thank you Rainbow, sorry I missed you post. Really helpful to see how to handle the artwork before you start the roll, that was my concern.
Thank you for your input.

De-roller experiences
Hi, I can see that StevenG posted recently regarding these rollers looking to purchase one, I'm keen to get peoples experiences using these. I use a series of weights with artwork sandwich between mount card to remove/reduce the curling of rolled artwork. This is becoming tricky to manage as the pro...

Hi all, I mentioned in one of my posts recently that I have gained lots of experience over the last four years of be a full time frames by a lot of trial and error (learning the hard way) when it came to ‘bits and pieces’. Mainly framing hardware and miscellaneous items. However, I need some advise ...

Ultimat Futura storage
Hi all, Looking for any advice / experience with regards to storing an Ultimat Futura mount cutter. I am refurbishing my studio space and building a new bench. So far my mount cutter has hung off the side of the bench when not in use. However looking at using foldable arms/supports to create a shelf...

Re: Wedding figures
Brilliant thanks for the reply Mark. Next cut the shelf to fit into the spacer frame and glue and screw it in place, with countersunk head screws from the outside of the spacer frame. The shelf is the part I was fuzzy on. Is your suggestion that the shelf fits the entire width of the frame? I was tr...
