yeah, he's right about the font as well. it just works nicely.
I think you have got it pretty spot on. the white text is a personal thing, i'm colour blind anyway.
I'd keep it as it is right now, and if you need to tweak any bits (like the white text) be guided by what your customers feedback is.

I'll just make it to suit the size they state their paper is Tim ;) who knows what sort of cutting machinery they use or tolerances in the paper/cutting. pedantry can be interesting and educational. I just now realised where the name of steve's business came from :) No steve its not a photo by the w...

Re: DPI/Resolution/Dimensions query
maybe they have dumbed it down for us members of the public steve? I've never heard of PPI, although DPI is as old as the hills. eg. DPI is dots per inch on the litho print colour - the printed output? (dots per inch) and PPI is the pixels per inch in the file. so I send my file to be printed at 300...

Re: Reworked frame site feedback please
its nice. right away you can see it is "american" looking not UK or european, which is good I guess because thats your target customer. looks a bit on the dark side, however in comparison to UK/Europen web sites american sites tend to use darker rich colour themes happily, so I presume thi...

Re: DPI/Resolution/Dimensions query
sorry, what i should have asked while there was still editing time: is it as straightforward as this? eg. if A5 = 210x148 mm (4.134 x 5.826 inches) do I simply require an image 300 x 4.134 = 1240 x 300 x 5.826 = 1748 for an A5? eg. a 1240x 1748 jpg printed at A5 is 300 DPI? Is this the right way to ...

DPI/Resolution/Dimensions query
One for our print experts:
Printing company asks me for a 300 DPI jpg.
what exact dimensions in pixels would the images need to be to print at 300 DPI as an A6 and an A5 respectively?

Re: HOT WEATHER affecting your CMC calibration?
on the subject mis-diagnosing things on CMCs, you'll like this one. I was cutting a sheet of oval mats in an array, and the head jammed at exactly the same point on three sheets of board. Thursday night onto Sam at Wizard, "think it needs a new head it keeps jamming up at exactly the same point...

Re: Casual labour advice
the majority of sub-contractors are in the construction/maintenance industries on the 714/715 schemes. the 714 certificate is held by the subcontractor, and the 715 is the ticket (called a voucher) which is given to the contractor by the subcontractor. There are different types of 714 for sole trade...

I ought to have added that at 6 hrs a week the tax and NI will be pretty insignificant anyway. if he's already self employed he can deal with that and offset any tax deductions you make in his annual tax return. I'd suggest find out his tax code, calculate how much tax he'd pay, (which wont be much)...

Re: Casual labour advice
strictly speaking its not as simple as this :( generally if he's working in the same place for the same person using your tools equipment and materials on a regular basis he's an employee. some people get away with it, others get stomped on by HMRC. I had a subcontractor come to work for us, he had ...

Kev, my Sophos advised Adware or PUA detected and moved to quarantine - would you expect this yes I would with Sophos because of the aforementioned toolbar helper that you need to disable/remove it after installation, is viewd as adware. most other AVs let it through because in theory its "opt...

download mihov image resizer. it'll do them in batches as well, convert file types, make them all the same size, vary the resolution, etc. http://www.mihov.com/sw/en/ir.php just make sure you click no, or uninstall any toolbar addons if the installer tries it on. video tutorial http://www.youtube.co...

if the frames are obeche, you can safely say the worms came free with the moulding from the suppliers. worm is no big deal, and on the list of catastrophies that can happen to a framers they are right down there at the bottom. Just more of an occasional PR matter than anything else. Its just the sce...

Re: Square cut window for fillets
we just do it reverse bevel cut from the front as well. seems the simplest and tidiest finish as robo says above. I haven't actually bothered calibrating anything to cut from the back on this one. they are usually one-offs and not overly in demand here. on white boards they look pretty good with an ...

had a half arse facebook page for ages. can't justify the time on it if I'm realistic. some of these "gurus" promoting social media are really just promoting themselves as gurus and a lot of people have wasted a lot of their time that could have been spent better elsewhere. if you've got f...
