Re: Buying a framing business
Hi Nolan
give us 24 hr notice so we can meet up in Gloucester or Cheltenham.
It'll give me a good excuse to escape the in laws for a couple of hours.
cheers

Re: deep hardwood mouldings
If your leaving the moulding natural then you could dowel the mitres with the same wood. Do as robo said use a mitre vice and glue into the holes. If your going to stain your frame then be aware of what effect the glue can have on the stain your using. If dowelling don't use ribbed dowels but find s...

Re: Box frame moulding
you could get yourself a spindle moulder and manufacture your own but that all depends on how many your going to manufacture.

Re: new online mat cutting calculator
this is a chart I've been working on for nearly three years( spare time) which handles bespoke frames .....real bespoke not what passes as bespoke now a days. I can only show a section of it as my iPad screen won't show it all in one . Covers just about any hand finish going and if not you can add m...

Re: new online mat cutting calculator
don't think it will ever be finished :Slap: Another good feature is just by altering your key factor you can alter all the results, say for example you need to add a price increase done! This enables me to price for gilding a thin profile frame up to a chest of drawers just by inputting dimentions ...

Re: new online mat cutting calculator
I can't get my head around this concept. How can an app 'see' what you are framing? Mat (mount) borders are dictated by the nature of the image itself not so much the size. There are a myriad of other factors that an app cannot conceive. Colour of the mat, texture, the frame......etc. Where the pic...

Re: new online mat cutting calculator
I think if you want to make it internationally acceptable you need to make it matric as well as imperial. :D Imperial doesn't work in excel. Anyway it's a pants method of measuring frames. I only use it when talking to elderly customers 60+ after quoting them in guineas, doffin me cap at the same t...
