Re: Travel Posters on Canvas
I've framed a couple of movie posters (big jobbies) that had been stabalised by adhering onto a "canvas" backing. One was a promo for the original Italian Job that my customer had bought off ebay, paid a good amount for it. It was in quite poor condition and in several parts where it had b...

Re: Minuet madness!
I use Minuet a lot, it's my standard top mount.
I also had this issue and now I always, except when I forget, pencil the back before starting to cut.

Re: finding backboard supplier
D&J Simons do a backing board called Back 10, should be fine for something that size and you'll be able to cut it with a knife and straight edge and staple it. It's pretty cheap as well

It's not in the FATG conservation standards that you to seal the glass / mount / undermount, just good practice.
I don't think sellotape is the best tape to use regardless of the level of framing!

Re: PFM's missing
I subscribed to the on line version and received it on line for most of last year, then I didn't receive it for a couple of months and then for the past 4 months I received the magazine through the post.
Must admit I prefer the magazine to the on line version but the price difference is significant!

Painting on Silk but to see frayed edges
I have a customer that has a painting on silk (30 x 56cm) and she wants to see the frayed edges of the silk, there is no value to the piece and she is okay for it to be "glued" to the back mount. She has specifically said no lacing or stitching as she wants to see the frayed edges. Suggest...

Re: Which are the best AR & AR+UV glass types?
Hi J2M,
Have you got a copy of John Palmer's (Glassman) book on glass, it was being given out on the Wessex stand at the Springfair. I guess you could get a copy from your local Wessex branch or I have a spare which if you PM me your address I'll put in the post to you.

Re: storing Ultimat Gold when not used
I designed both my work benches to have lift up tops, they are hinged along one. The "top" area of the one is used for glass cleaning and the top of the other for assembly. When you lift the top there is another area / shelf underneath where my Ulitimat is stored and used on the one and my...

Re: Framing a large map
Hello Chris, Welcome to the forum. I recently framed an OS map centered on the customer postcode. You should be able to get jumbo sized mountboard 1630mm x 1120mm from most suppliers. Certainly all of the mountboard manufacturers make jumbo board, albeit in limited colour range, but you may then hav...
