Very good question. Depends how much space you can devote. A big display of samples does look immpresive, but you can give a customer too much choice and end up totally confusing them. As time goes by you will find which are your most useful mouldings, so it is probably a better plan to display thes...

So if I need to put a board across the back of a large frame with thin mouldings, so that I can screw through the board into the frame to stop the frame bowing, what do I use if I am not allowed to use MDF? As already mentioned, this is not a good idea. It may stregthen the frame but if the board e...

Old Joke. :o Man goes to get a haircut. "I want a Tony Curtis cut please" (I said it was an old joke.) When the barber had finished the man looks in the mirror. "What have you done! Tony Curtis doesn't have hair like that!! " "He does if he comes in here", repli...

:) Well.... it is common practice among owners of extremely valuable paintings to commission a copy to hang on their walls and put the real one in a bank vault. Mainly to save on crippling insurance costs. Having a single print done of a poster should work out less than the cost of a 40x60 sh...

My xp is, show them the up-market stuff first, - "this one would look really classy, but it is rather expensive...". If they baulk at the cost, bring out the cheaper alternatives. 9 out of 10 times they go back to the dear one. :D

Just a few thoughts.... Posters by their very nature are temporary things. That probably means that they were printed on crap paper and the inks are likely to be very fugitive. Prior to the customers bringing them for framing it's very likely they had never seen the light of day for any long periods...

Is it the customers or the posters that are old?

Find out first if the posters have any value (or likely to have in future). Some posters can be worth a fortune and this would obviously effect the approach to the framing.
