Re: Business Insurance.

Well seeing as we pay it every year anyway, less for more is a win win, no? If the worst happens, they'll pay out if ive kept to the fine print, which ive read letter by letter of course... :sweating:

Business Insurance.

Just to share with the group, I have recently taken out a business insurance policy with Hiscox Insurance. Customer service was great, with far less questions and backwards and forwardsing to check details with insurers. Altogether an easy process, higher cover than previously and a saving of over £...

Re: Basic hobby set up?

Hi Tinweasel,
I can recommend a Cassese CS88 foot operated underpinner, adjustable fences, easy to maintain and you can pick one up for a reasonable price at times.
Good luck!

I'm assuming you're aware that Wessex do one for £360 ish and Estlite is £450ish. Both one off payments with free ongoing updates.

Re: board to mount photographs

If I'm vacuum dry mounting, I either use 2mm display board from Wessex or 3mm/5mm foamboard. (Put it under weight straight away til it cools to prevent bending as it cools).

Re: Hello From Yorkshire (Lis and the obligatory whippet)

Hi Lis Welcome to the group! I have been looking at the cs199 and 299 lately, although sadly my equipment budget now appears to be zero this year, so I'm sticking with my trusty CS88 for the time being. I can recommend Estlite pricing software. I haven't looked back, once it was set up right. There'...

Re: Wavey Canvass

Reminds me of when I bought some Thai floor cushions in Bangkok. I thought it would be much cheaper to buy them unfilled, post them home and do it myself...
Half a day to locate a supplier of cotton wadding by the roll. Hours each to stuff them and hours of sewing them up...lesson learnt!

Re: How's it hanging?

I think Cleaver already has a copy of that sheet Steve.
Strap hangers from Lions are also a good alternative, when the frame is wide enough to take them, like sawtooth hangers.
The D rings are pointed upwards, directed at the hanging point to reduce stress on the d rings.

I'm confused. You've T hinge mounted a canvas with a window mount? Rather than restretch it onto stretcher bars and frame it?

Re: Upside-down cutting....

Whenever possible! The rebates are a pita and slow me down most of the time. Obviously it only works with flat faced mouldings.
I have been known to do it with simple flat prefinished mouldings on occasion. You just have to be methodical, careful and keep everything clean.

Re: Mount Recommendations – Student Artists Prints, Drawing paper / Giclee Ink

There are deckle edged rulers available. I have a number of artists who use them on all work intended for floating.

Also an aluminium one somewhere.
