BTW, I've heard that commercial stripping tanks are heated and use a different chemical process. Awwwwwwwwww don't start him off! You know what will happen if you get him thinking about heating the mix or electrolising it............... http://xs839.xs.to/xs839/09190/cloud932.jpg There goes Lincoln...

I often wonder what a Brooke Shields/George W Bush lovechild would have been like. I'd guess there would have been smarter snails.Bill Henry wrote:“Smoking kills. If you’re killed, you’ve lost an important part of your life.” — Brooke Shields

Re: For New starters everywhere !
Nowadays I only stock 2 whites (1 standard and 1 2.6mm) a warm Ivory, black and white blackcore. For coloured second mounts, more often than not I paint them! I do a nice trade with marbled second mounts, takes just 5 minutes with a sponge and some thin paint and I can charge double. If I get the ti...

Re: For New starters everywhere !
Another tip for new starters: Very carefully calculate how much room you'll need to work, display and store stuff - then get a premises with at least twice as much room.

Re: For New starters everywhere !
I'd say one thing a new starter has to do is look up what grants are available and get them! I could have got 30% or more of my machinery costs plus other help if I had known at the time.

On Easter Sunday I lost my beautiful little boy, Bomber. He was slaughtered by a maniac on a motorbike who didn't even stop and left him in the road - although he did come back later, twice, looking for the body. I was out there then and saw him, but didn't twig that he was the one until after he zo...

How many framer/artists have we here?
For those that don't know already, I actually started out in framing to frame my own art, bloody expensive decision that's turned out to be! I was just wondering how many of you were/are artists as well? I ask as I have been doing a Sunday market over the last few months, which has allowed me to do ...

Re: tightly rolled prints
I decided to make something like that. Took a large tube and taped a sheet of Melinex to it. Rolled a print in it, left it for a short while, unrolled it and it was fine. Using the sheet of Melinex reduces the risk of creasing and, somehow, it seems to speed up the process. I've found that leaving ...

Strangest thing for me was a piece of a cardboard box that had been shredded by a cat. They've recently brought me some duck feathers to do as well.

Re: "Liquid metal" and other metallic paints from Lion
Although it's not made clear in the Lion catalogue, Pete's metallic finishes rely upon being painted onto newly applied wax and then heat drying with a hot air gun as the wax becomes the binding agent for the metallic particles in the paint. This might sound strange, but it's a wonderful techique a...
