Re: Cockling paper
Thanks featurepiece for the foamboard idea and prospero for the detailed explanation.I tried the mountboard slightly bigger than the artwork and squishing the mdf in. It has worked a treat (for now) so I'll hang onto it for a few days just to check.
Thanks again everyone.

Gap between window mount and artwork as the paper is wavy. I can post a picture later.

Cockling paper
I have a frame back that I did a few months ago. The paper which I remember was particularly heavy has cockled. There are a few visible gaps between the frame and window mount which is why it is an issue. Artwork is approx 600 x 600mm. It is hung in a front room on a sun wall so possibly a factor in...

You've lost 12 of them then
Very impressive, I take it they will be going back on the wall of the barber shop.

Re: Plonkers.
People actually do that?
Does it not worry you if you are framing it as I would probably trust something framed by a framer I know than a print / artwork on its own.
If I bought something that turned out to be like this I would be extremely annoyed.

Re: Ever received something you didn't order?
The two places I order most from my account number is identical bar one letter and one number, so I often give the wrong one, but they will say 'is that sexy framers ltd' and i say 'em no, try this account number'. Maybe because they are so similar I think about it more.

Hi biggiofan, most of the framers / advertisers etc. on here are from UK, so might be worth asking on thegrumble.com which is more for US based framers.

I don't, but I like the way you've built a bench to sit the morso in. That's a great idea. My morso sits in front of a pool table, so not sure I could do the same.

Re: Best way to promote my business
Word of mouth is always the best way. I think a website is important and can be easy enough to do although if you are asking chances are it might not be. What about doing a facebook page? You can add the business to the free listings online, e.g. yell.com, hotfrog, qype, freeindex etc. Might be wort...

Re: Fixing mosaic
I have tapestry tape and think it is fairly strong, especially when I stick my finger by mistake. I think part of the issue is that trying to get good pressure is difficult because there is a bit of give because the pegs are just pushed onto the points. I'm going to see if I can get some kind of fis...

Re: Fixing mosaic
Here are the mosaic pegs. The whole thing is approx 600mm and the backing is made up of around 25 small plastic squares. I have floated the mosaic using a sticky board and this was done as the customer wanted it done to match a much smaller one. In hindsight I would have probably framed it normally ...

Fixing mosaic
I've got a mosaic that has slipped off the sticky board. It is the small plastic coloured tabs that are pushed onto little plastic spikes which is on a plastic square and it is quite big so there are quite a number of these squares. These have all been taped together by the customer and it's these p...

Re: open corners nightmare!!!
I don't use a lot of plastic mouldings, only when I'm matching something else, and I was getting this issue too.
Like imagelab I was glueing them using plastic glue and holding them together for around 10 seconds before pinning. This seems to be enough to rectify the problem.

Re: Non-conservation MBE cert.
Cheers - I still prefer the other layout, think it looks neater, but this one works well especially with the bigger tails on the medal. It's a single mount, normal depth bevel, just with shadow on the bottom aperture. 10mm foamboard spacer between the undermount and the window mount, and medal is pi...

Re: Non-conservation MBE cert.
Here's my full conservation spec mbe + cert The tails on this one are far bigger than yours so although we'd decided to copy your one, it didn't fit! So we went for this layout.
