Re: Linen covered mount.
Hi Dermot, This bits useful to To create a deep-bevel look, Glass covers pieces of strainer bar with the same fabric before joining the strainer. Covering the ends of the pieces gives the miter joint a clean edge. The above method in your link would stop linen shrinking back on covered slips. MITREM...

Re: Linen covered mount.
Hi Dave, Arqadia should be able to supply you with a linen board. I would ask for a sample swatch from Priory Moulding in Beccles (find them in local Yellow pages) they carrier Arqadia Mountboards and can supply odd sheets they deliver to Norwich on Mondays and Thursdays. How to cut? Cut your mount ...

Re: mug printing
Hi Moglet, Don't think so they have even started doing kitchens, They are also very cheap for putting photo's onto canvas (so cheap you could take your customers work in and still add on a percentage without the work). Lots of Express Tesco's poping up around Norwich and I know of a couple more goin...

Re: Underpinning slips with pneumatic Cassese
Hi Dave, I have used that method many times with out claps. My first underpinner I bought was with out clamps although the old Cassese DF machines the first in the country did have clamps. I did'nt find any problems joining most mouldings you just had to know how to make jigs and use your hand stren...

Re: Underpinning slips with pneumatic Cassese
Hi Bagpuss, Cut and join a 12cm-15cm approx corner from the same slip (with the bevel cut off) or plain timber of the same height and glue some rubber strips to both sides from upholstery rubber or shoe heel rubber (now you have a jig for the job) if your only doing the odd one or two don't bother w...

Re: Trimming a 6mm thick Mirror
Important point with any risky work Unfortunately some customers are really into old mirrors and can be a lot of trouble if things don't go to plan! Be careful, make sure that both copies of the order make it clear that you will only cut it down at the customers own risk and get them to sign your c...

Re: Trimming a 6mm thick Mirror
Hi bagel Framer, Yes you can do it with your normal glass cutter and t-square, but if its older glass there is a risk :sweating: You would need to make sure the glass is very clean, and a good clean score is made, then gently tape under the cut to make it deeper along the length of the cut and use n...

Re: Framing a Robert Bateman print
Hi Emeraldart, I think what Prospero is try to say But keep the edges of the print at least 1" away from the outside of the mount. is by keeping the edge of the print away from the outside edge of the mount you are limiting any impurities from the moulding rebate and allow it to have space to e...
