Re: GUNNAR F1-XL Hybrid

Software alone, possibly yes, but there is still the problem about hardware connection to communicate with the CMC? eg: serial/com connection to CMC controller, etc. No solution I've found to date there unfortunately.

I stand by my previous response.

Still smiling,

Unfortunately, no. Only PC.

To my knowledge, this holds the same for all CMC's across the industry too.

Keep smiling,

Re: CS88 Pedal bottoming out

Mark is right.

If the top clamp assembly is too far away from the top of the moulding, then the pedal will not have enough stroke to clamp and join. Always make sure the top clamp is no far than a "hand space" from the top of the moulding.

Re: Can’t afford the Rolls Royce solution, so...

Time to pull out some relevant cliches that come to mind... - Begin with the end in mind..... if you want your business to be "the best", then it all starts by owning the best. It's a harder road to "be the best" by just owning "the cheapest". - When you buy the best, y...

I would love to come to Ireland, but I'm afraid if I come that day, I won't make it back home in time for dinner again!

Re: CMC cuts per year

Finances dictating, I'm looking at second hand cmcs, and was wondering how many cuts per year the average bespoke framer would expect to rack up on a CMC. I know serving is a big thing to look at, but like a car, I'd like to know how many miles it had done to work out the type of life it had. Congr...

Re: can anyone help

Speaking on behalf of Gunnar, Firstly – please allow me to say that not all CMC’s are created equal. There are many differences, in many respects. Does Gunnar nest and/or optimise across multiple sheets ? Yes. As per this list of “industry firsts” on this page: http://www.megawood.com.au/cmc_website...

Hey David, I love your intro post - very funny! Congratulations on the arrival of your new Gunnar F1 CMC! I'm sure it will bring pleasure, creativity and profit to your work from here in. We've really put a lot of work into that machine, and our software, to make it as useful and as simple to use as...

Re: Framing 3 parts of a newspaper article

Here's a couple of tips: If you are going to work with the original articles, you may want to use a black backing board, like black alphamat, as the darkness of the backing will help hide any ghosting of the newsprint coming through the front. If you cut seperate apetures for each article section, a...

Re: Sub £10K CMC (Which is the best value)

Jared Are the rental figures on that website, http://www.getthepictureframing.com/gfaq/cmc.htm, correct. $100 per week for the F1 Hybrid(£66.00 per week) - seems very cheap. Those figures are based on leasing, not rental. Leasing is always more affordable than rental. Gunnar do not offer rental in ...

Re: Sticking together a multi-aperture double mount

I understand that some framers with a CMC machine will cut a multi-aperture double mount in one hit by sticking the top and bottom mounts together and then letting the CMC machine cut a double mount from the front in one go. What I would like to know is how do you know where to place double sided t...

Hi Marc, There's a few brands of different CMC's to choose from, and they all have their "strengths and weaknesses" so make sure to compare them all when you do your research. You may find these two quick YouTube videos I've recently made to be a helpful reference, so see how the Gunnar CM...

Re: which font

Hi Marc. i think you are are referring to the typical, common "name mat" concept, which reveals a photo behind the cut shape of each letter? Many CMCs have their own propriety built-in fonts which are big and chunky to facilitate this requirement, as they are not commonly available fonts. ...

Re: Effecting the value of a print

I'm just trying to understand the rational of adhesive “very” close to art, whether it is used for tape, hinges, mount-mat board, mounting adhesives etc. If I may add a thought to this... most adhesives are liquid and sticky by nature (thus they are called adhesives) - some adhesives "stay thi...

Re: Effecting the value of a print

My questions are addressed to the adhesives, I understand all the stuff about the board. And using that argument of intellectual property is crap, the adhesives if they are of any reasonable quality will be readably available from one of a handful of manufacturers around the world. And I repeat I’m...
