Would I be correct to assume, Jared, that the "outside cut" is performed by using the regular bevelling blade in "reverse bevel" mode? Yes, for the Gunnar F1, this is correct. For the Gunnar 601, then it would be using the built-in straight head for a squared edge. Cheers, Jared

Re: CMC's - Reliability and Quality of Support Services

The need-to-haves are what count! You got it... Regarding Áine’s initial list of questions; these are probably best answered by real CMC’s owners in the field; however there were a few questions I thought I could add useful comment to? 1. The quality of training and support you received initially. ...

Most of the CMCs on the market are designed to run 24 hour days, so the average framer is not going to run it to the limits. Hi again, Thanks for the kind word's Lemon Drop! It's nice to know that karma goes around! Please forgive me, as I feel inclined to clarify the incorrect perception of the 24...

Hi Guys, I literally "just" got the book published, and sent one copy over to Sarah hot off the press just before the Spring Fair. Apparently, someone kindly swiped it off the stand on the first day - so if it's worth stealing, it's worth buying. :) The book is based on one of my classes -...

Hi guys - Being an experienced Gunnar tech & sales guy for the last 11 years in Australia, please allow me to contribute to some questions made with some facts below - 1. What's involved in switching between cutting 4-ply and 8-ply boards? (The lad on the stand showed me, but I can't remember......

Thanks for the kind words John.

Nice work on the Butterfly - very clean. As you are now aware, limiting the number of nodes in Corel Draw greatly improves the cut quality - but it does take time... :)

Keep at it...

Kind regards,

Jared

Hi Mike, A Gunnar F1-M is available in a small size which would probably fit within the dimensions you listed? The max sheet cut size on this model is 36" x 48". F1's can be wall mounted as a standard feature of the configurable stand which is included. http://www.gunnar-europe.com/typo3te...

Well, I did this in less than an hour using Open Office - just a quick sketch out, no fine tuning of the points, export to WMF and cut. Some of the bits needed teasing out, but it worked. With a bit more experience with it will get better. Guess who? Mate, that's great! Thanks for the example &...

Possible, yes.... but the photo needs to be "just right". The procedure is not simple, and has taken me a while to work things out using a combination of photoshop and corel draw. As you can imagine, these take a bit of time to create, and all up, something like this might take me about 5-...

Hey Spit - I have a handy idea regarding a "Virtual Machine" alternative, which you can use on any CMC. Remove the blade and hit "cut". :) ....... If all goes to plan, and behaves as expected, put the blade back in and hit cut again? I do this a bit when I am importing very elabo...

Hello Mike, Sorry to hear that Santa didn't bring you your CMC for Christmas! Most CMC's are designed for small "custom framers", thus being able to utilise smaller sized off-cuts, rather than full sheets, is essential. John has offered some great advice there about getting cut samples. As...

Hi guys, Reading your thread with interest, and this is my first post on this forum - so "G'Day" from Down Under. We have also seen a growth in popularity of thicker matboards down here in Australia recently as well. I thought it might be worth noting that not all CMC's can cut bevels 12pl...
