Re: Hoffman Router
I saw this router in operation a couple of years ago when I was collecting an Excalibur 5000 that I had bought from misterdiy and was very impressed with it. I now have one of my own and would recommend it to for anyone who uses hard woods like oak and ash. You'll never battle again to get a perfect...

Re: Very large print on photographic paper
If I get a job like this I tend to refer the customer direct to a local sign manufacturing company who have some serious mounting kit, not sure offhand but I think it will handle up to 1.5 metre wide or more. They dry mount onto fomex or dibond and usually come up trumps every time. They also lamina...

Re: Wide float frame
Simple solution could be Lion L1884, ok it's only 30 mm wide but I'd bet your customer couldn't tell the difference without a tape measure at hand

Re: Hanging frames in public places
Thanks for your input James, it's not just the question of glass it's also securing the frame so that it cannot be accidentally or otherwise dropped, in which case glass breaks. I think the National gallery may have a reasonably secure method of attaching their little collection to the walls to prev...

Hanging frames in public places
Please can anyone point me in the right direction or give some guidance as to what the legal requirements are for hanging frames in public buildings. I am aware of "springlock" and other and other security devices but would like to see what the safety regulations actually state. Thanks in ...

Re: New supplier
All this discussion on delivery issues has prompted a bit of reflection to our first experiences of framing in Zambia in the early 2000's. All of our stock was delivered by road freight from Johannesburg, a trip of 2,000 km across 2 borders and through temperatures of over 40 deg. C in the Limpopo a...

Re: New supplier
Yes, I'm convinced it is down to the driver and depot. The tuffnell's vans in my area all seem to have high level racks for long packages and this seems to help the mouldings survive better. DX were a nightmare even with a good driver. I would have thought there is enough of us on this forum to drum...

Re: New supplier
I use both Lion and Arqadia so I get all my deliveries of mouldings and boards etc. via Tufnell's. It must be down to the local depot and delivery network but I very rarely have any problems with transport damage and really cannot praise them enough, it's excellent service as far as I'm concerned. T...

Hi Dobbo
I used an Alfa A200M (U200) for 5 years before upgrading to an Alfa Minigraf £ pneumatic.
The A200M is available, its a good basic machine for starting on.
If you are interested please feel free to PM or call me, details on my website

Re: 13 mm PZ2 screws
Have you got the correct description ?
Is PZ2 the size of the screwdriver tip, if so then I think what you may be looking for is Lion 5234 which is a number 6 thread, 3.5 mm diameter, 13 mm long and requires a PZ2 tip, and brass pan head of course
Hope this is of some use

Re: Fixing a glazed tile into a tray frame
If you have a backing board then that would facilitate some strategically placed melinex /mylar straps (which should not be too obvious) to back up one of the suggested adhesive methods.

Wessex do 'Crescent Conservation Suedes' I don't have the colour chart to hand but I'm quite sure they have a few lighter shades in their range and you can buy single sheets.

Re: Which UV glass?
It looks like we have two basically different glass types under discussion in the thread - UV, as in TV Cons Clear or Artglass Pres Clear, both claiming 99% uv protection. I haven't used the Artglass but TVCC is 2.5 mm, one sided, red tint edge, prone to scratching if mishandled and extremely reflec...

Why try and match the mount with the dazzling white border, I stay with hayseed or minuet and think the subtle contrast looks far better than a bad close match

Re: Laminate prints?
I agree strongly with David M, that mounting film will fail and show bubbles before you know it without the correct pressure being applied. Lion now do a sticky board which allows the bubbles to escape / dissipate and I have used this successfully with only hand roller pressure, its FOAM-LiTE TAF, 9...

I was going to say try Lion but they are out of stock on the normal blades, however they do have the equivalent double sided as well as the eco blades available if you are desperate.
